EASTCONN Conference Center is proud to host this fantastic opportunity for new teachers in our region, brought to you by EASTCONN!
School administrators: this August, send your new teachers for a course in Reading Instruction and/or Writing Instruction that is grounded in best practices and current research. While not attached to any one program, these workshops will include common content, methods of instruction, planning instruction, management structures and concepts for meeting the needs of learners in teaching both reading and writing. Four New Teacher Workshops are available: Writing Instruction for K-2nd grade and 3rd-8th grade; Reading Instruction/The Science of Reading for K-2nd and 3rd-8th grade. Our delicious lox and bagels were on the buffet this morning as Northeast Connecticut's first-ever HACK-A-THON kicked off today at the EASTCONN Conference Center in Hampton. The HackCT Inaugural Transportation Summit invited innovators and experts in the transportation space to learn about and discuss transportation issues facing the residents of northeastern CT.

Meet Nathan Olson, a student from EASTCONN Transition Academy who has been working with our Conference Services team for the last few months. Starting this week, Nate will be expanding his schedule and assuming some additional job tasks in Hampton where he’ll divide his time between Conference Services, the Copy Center, and the Facilities Department.

EASTCONN is proud to announce a series of workshops that bring the State's Essential Standards or your own district's essential standards to practical application. EASTCONN's Leading and Learning Department Staff will bring you through a process for alignment and unwrapping of the standards at each grade level. Participants will leave with a replicable process to unwrap standards, create learning targets ("I can" statements) and opportunities to align standards and targets to curricular units. This Workshop is critical for districts to take the next step towards personalization in order to accelerate each learner.

The first session is K-2 Science and begins August 6, each session costs $149 per teacher per session. To register for the K-2 science session, and information for other grade levels, please click the link, and share with your colleagues!
