A Night of Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles

Mom’s Cancer Fighting Angels 10th Annual Car Show set for July 14 at Saugus Middle-High School; a special tribute for Saugus Route 1 Fuddruckers is planned

By Joanie Allbee

SAUGUS - Enjoy a fantastic afternoon of fun on Sunday, July 14, at the Saugus Middle-High School, 1 Pearce Memorial Dr., from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mom’s Cancer Fighting Angels’ 10th Annual Car Show. The event will feature a live WROR 105.7 FM Street Team with games & prizes and DJ Jim Reece of Lil’ Jimmy’s Stack of Records, as well as cool cars, trucks and motorcycles – with raffles and trophies for the winners.
Guy Moley started this as a continued tribute to his beloved mother, Irene Comeau, who passed away from esophageal cancer over a decade ago. With the love and support of his wife, Brenda; his sister, Jodi Lyn Comeau; and her daughter, Alexis, Mom’s Cancer Fighting Angels continue keeping Irene’s memory alive while raising money to strengthen the American Cancer Society.
“We will be honoring the now closed Saugus Route One Fuddruckers one last time as we feel Fuddruckers held the first nine car shows – and if not for Fuddruckers, we may not be here today,“ Guy said.
Guy also shared a gratitude for Bill Pappas, the man shown at the other end of the sign in the above painting with Guy. “We will be honoring Bill Pappas, the owner of the former Full of Bull Saugus Restaurant. Bill Pappas actually taught me ALL I know about how to run a Car Show,” Guy said. Bill also ran the Saugus Lions Club Car Show for years, which took place at the old Saugus High School, so we are calling it between the three bringing it back to where it all began.
The 10th Annual Car Show Cruise Night is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles. All proceeds go to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Wakefield. There will be food, music, raffles, 50/50 trophies and more. The rain date is July 21. For any questions, please call Guy Moley at 781-640-1310.

Given the extremely high temps anticipated over the coming days, we have decided to cancel the Car Show for this week (June 19th). Stay cool and we will see everyone on the 26th!

"Many of you know that I’m not much on using the internet and have yet to post here on Facebook. Now that “Lulu’s Back in Town” - returning from her trip to England, I can take a moment to clear things up about my involvement in the three big car shows coming up around Labor Day weekend. Yes, I’m excited to be a part of the DEAD MAN’S CURVE car show for the first time ever this August 30th. I will be doing “my thing” there that Friday evening. This does NOT mean that I won’t be at LEAD EAST as I have been for the last 40 years! I will continue to do my Thursday night show there as well as my GUP & THE RHYTHMHANCERS performance on Saturday night, and I will spin at the late-night GUTBUCKET R&B party, now officially in LIL' JIMMY’s hands (yes, at age 70, I’m passing the baton on that one!). And yes, I will be at RICH CONKLIN'S HOT ROD FARM on Wednesday, August 28th. The people that run these shows are all good friends of mine and I’m looking forward to doing all three events! As most of you know, my spinning music has been a full-time profession for me for over 45 years and is what keeps a roof over our heads and cool cars in the garage. I love my work, wherever it takes me…! Enjoy your summer! - Gup"

Please accept our apologies for all of the confusion as we get ready to kick off the season. We had a contract with our first location but unfortunately, they decided they did not want to host our show. This left us scrambling to find a new location with not much time to do so. Thankfully, St. Richard's Church (90 Forest St. Danvers) has stepped up and is graciously allowing us to use their lot. The show will go on! It will be the same great show just at a different location. Jimmy Stacks will be there, and we will have food and other events throughout the season. Bathrooms will be located at Endicott Park and there is plenty of space at St. Richard's for all of us to enjoy the show. PLEASE be aware that this is a residential area...we must be respectful of our neighbors. The new location will take some time to get used to, but please bear with us as we work through it. We are just grateful that we are able to provide the show for all of us to enjoy. We will be there tomorrow night. Please spread the word and follow the cones!.

I just discovered that this great friend and guitarist passed in November of last year, I had the incredible honor of witnessing Ray absolutely tear it up on my flame top Stratocaster in the following video. I walked in to the spear post that night to see this incredible group of musicians as I had many time before but this time with my guitar case in hand and asked Ray if he would play out on my guitar that night so I could hear what a professional could do with it, he humored me at first and said sure a song or two, then spent the entire night absolutely tearing it up on my Strat only to ask me to bring it back any time I wanted. I was fortunate enough to get to dj alongside him and the band at their reunion/Elvis trivia show in 2019. Godspeed Ray, thanks for the music.
