We will host our dinners on Friday, October 7, and Saturday, October 8. We will round up the festivities with Sunday brunch on October 9.

Ooh, la la! It’s time to talk about one of our favorite subjects: sandwiches. French sandwiches.

Chef Jody will be featuring a Monte Cristo sandwich with sausage for one of the summer edition brunch courses. Do you know the difference between three of the most popular French sandwiches – the croque monsieur, the croque madame, and the Monte Cristo?

These are important things to know, people.

All three sandwiches are made with bread and French ham.

The croque monsieur gets a generous dousing of bechamel sauce, which is made from milk and herbs. The result? A salt, creamy, savory sandwich :)

The croque madame – well, we know she fancy. Take the croque monsieur and top it with a poached egg, and voila!

If you’re looking for something sweeter, the Monte Cristo is the way to go. It’s the croque monsieur, but with a smear of dijon and no bechamel. Are you sitting down for this? You then dip it in egg batter and DEEP FRY IT, then sprinkle it with powdered sugar. C’est magnifique!

The great thing about any of these sandwiches is that you can doctor them up with different meats, jams, and other accompaniments.
