Though the page has been quiet for quite some time, I'm officially back to full speed and I am SO excited to announce I'll have three family portrait mini session dates open this year in Iron County! Hello! I hope this note finds those who read it happy and healthy. 2020 has been a year of change for most of us. For me, the forced slow-down opened my eyes to the unsustainable life I've been living for the past 17 or so years - not only burning the candle at both ends, but rather lighting the whole box on fire at once. Building HLP to the company and following it is today over the past 11 years has brought me immense joy and allowed me to meet and know SO MANY incredible love stories, families, pets, and above all - people.

After I close out my 2020 calendar this fall/honor all existing commitments on my calendar, I am taking a sabbatical until 2022 to focus on health and family. Trust that this decision has not been made lightly (this kind of feels like cutting off a whole part of me), but my heart is telling me I need to slow down for a bit, so I am listening. Knowing me - there is a VERY good chance I'll open up a few 2021 calendar days for mini-session marathons, and of course I will announce it if I do.

I cannot thank you all enough for your understanding of this decision and for your love and support over the years - it has been my greatest honor getting to document the chapters in so many stories. I look forward to coming back with a renewed spirit, a fresh eye, and a healthier version of myself to share with you all

This summer looks and feels a whole lot different than any other summer since I started this company 11 years ago. I had my first and only wedding left on the schedule for 2020 on Saturday, and to say it was perfect falls so far short of the day Jenna and Brandon had. It was filled with the kind of love and joy one can only wish for ... and they deserve every ounce of it. While picking favorites is typically an impossible task for me, this one was truly i m p o s s i b l e for so many reasons. Hello everyone. This page has been uncharacteristically quiet as I worked through all of the emotions we all felt/still feel with the COVID-19 pandemic. With my 3-year-old daughter having particular sensitivity to illnesses such as this, it has also meant taking a hard long look at my summer and fall plans, analyzing risk, and changing my typical on-the-go wedding and portrait season into one of staying close to home. I have said it before, but I say it now with my eyes overflowing with emotion, I have been and continue to be blessed to work with the best people in the world. I and my clients have been heartbroken, but all of them have been so gracious and understanding of my situation, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I’m not entirely sure where the rest of 2020 will find me, but I feel it is a season of transition and change. Though change can be scary, it is often what we need the most even if we don’t see it at first or understand why. For now, please stay safe, stay healthy, and above all - be kind.

Hi all, I hope this note finds everyone well! Here is an update on this year's Bridal Expo...

To all of our valued attendees and vendors:

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we unfortunately must cancel our 2020 Keweenaw Bridal Expo. While this is a very difficult announcement for our team to make, we must follow the protocols put in place by the State of Michigan and honor the concerns of Michigan Tech and the Rozsa Center as well.

We want to be transparent with you all, and will keep you updated in terms of reimbursement for event tickets and vendor fees as we figure everything out. We will formally contact each individual attendee and vendor via email and handle this situation as quickly as we possibly can.

You, the people, are the most important part of our expo, and we want to do all in our reach to put you first and keep you and those around you safe. Thank you so much for showing your love and support for this community event. We will be looking forward to seeing you next year!

I know it's been a minute since my last post, but I've been busily wrapping up my double header wedding editing from the last week of December, healing from some health issues exacerbated by me refusing to ever slow down (pneumonia is no joke y'all!!), starting to help plan the 2020 Keweenaw Bridal Expo (April 5th!), and enjoying the start of my 'slower' season with some long overdue family time

I had the absolute JOY of getting to document Hannah + Nathan's big day on Saturday. The weather held out for them and we were able to take advantage of rare warm December day for portraits outside. Their entire day was filled with so much laughter, love, and genuine excitement from all who attended from start to finish - it was truly a joy to be there to witness it

I had the great joy of getting to meet up with the Mattila family this Sunday afternoon for a very sweet 'birthday present' session. It was such a blast to get out in our first measurable snow of the season; and though it was a little chilly, all were total troopers (comes with the hockey family territory I think) :) This bunch is just the sweetest and there was more than one doubled-over belly laugh shared, which makes for the best time. Here is just a sneak into the joy they let me capture!!

Yesterday's wedding was truly blissful from start to finish. Not only did the rain hold off for 99% of the formal images (!!!), but Jen and Jesse are truly a couple that spending time with kind of feels like having your heart hugged. Seriously, I cannot say enough about how kind these two (and their friends and family) are, which is probably why there was rarely a dry eye to be found - either from tears of joy or of belly laughter

This year has just been flying by 😅 I’ll be headed to the west coast a week from today for a wedding in Lake Tahoe to witness my little brother and future sister in law tie the knot but promise to get caught up with my sneak peeks before wheels up!! ♥️🙌♥️

Grace | Class of 2020. This young lady nailed her session from the word go and I swear my cheeks still hurt from all the laughs shared throughout her session with her and her mama! Here is a sneak into some of the fun we had - and thank you Grace for trusting the process (LOL especially when guided to sit in front of a random bush in someone's yard... you're the best!!)

These two lovely people are tying the knot tomorrow and to say I am honored and excited to be a part of documenting all the love and fun is a total understatement - CANNOT WAIT!!

On Friday the Keweenaw was blessed with sunshine and a gorgeous blue sky - luckily, that is the same day Jamie & Adam scheduled their trip up north and their engagement session! We started where their official journey to "I do" began and made our way up to Eagle River, taking in all of the blues (haha and the snow still on the roadsides in some spots 😲) along the way. We did our fair share of laughing and I am SO excited for their big day, I know we're going to have a total blast

This past Saturday was the PERFECT late August day and I was lucky enough to get to hang out with Caity and Michael to document the joy of their engagement! We got to dip our toes in Superior and enjoy a perfect golden hour ... haha and they got to experience my "OH MY GAWD YOU GUYS!!" happy dance as a result 😂 I am so very excited for these two and for their big day next year! Hi Everyone! I know the page has been quiet, but things around here have been anything but the past two weeks. The last few sessions I've shot have been private or corporate so I've been running all over creation but not getting to tell y'all about it! ;) On Monday, however, I got to experience something SO beyond incredible and I am SO thankful to this family for a) allowing me to be there and b) allowing me to give you all a sneak peek into what I got to document. On Monday morning, I watched my best friend give birth to her and her husband's second child. Her husband, her mom, her mother-in-law, and I stood in absolute awe of this powerhouse of a woman as she brought another beautiful daughter into this world. Words cannot express this moment accurately, so I will let this image do it for me

On Saturday, two very kind and wonderful people joined together in marriage at Belsolda Farms in Marquette. To say their day was perfection is an understatement! From the weather, to the location, to the way they took care of their guests... and then add in the GORGEOUS couple ... swooning all day! All of the above of course made narrowing down favorites just about impossible, but here is just a peek into all of the love and beauty!!

On Saturday I had the great opportunity to be part of documenting Eliza & Joe's big day in Copper Harbor. From the intimate outdoor ceremony to the rockin' outdoor reception, this wedding was top-notch. These two (and their friends and family) have such a warmth and joy about them, it was truly a joy to witness. As I told Eliza as I was leaving Saturday evening, picking sneak peeks may be nearly impossible as the whole day fell into "my favorite part" list

This past Thursday evening I had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Kate and Gabe to document this moment in their story together and celebrate their engagement. I was swooning the entire time - these two are just so effortless to be around and with each other, it was beautiful to witness. We started at Kate's shop in downtown Crystal Falls (I highly recommend popping in and checking it out!!) and then headed to Horse Race Rapids - a favorite place of theirs. Picking sneak peeks was, of course, nearly impossible. Here is a peek into our adventuring/hiking!
