“What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
Come to the Cabaret ...”
-- from "Cabaret" by Fred Ebb & John Kander

Sponsored by the Hancock Depot Association and the Keene Music Festival and hosted by Crazy Cowz (www.facebook.com/crazycowz), the Hancock Depot Cabaret is a music, arts, and function venue located in the old Hancock Train Station/Dep

ot on Depot Road. The Cabaret was created to provide a venue for local and regional musicians, poets, and other artisans to share their talent in a comfortable, friendly, and inspirational environment. While admission is free, we suggest a $5 donation, which the Association will use to keep the lights on and provide general maintenance for the Depot. The Hancock Train Station/Depot served the town from 1878 to 1934 on a rail that went from Elmwood/Hancock Junction to Keene. It accommodated the local farmers as well as summer visitors and tourists seeking a bucolic environment far detached from the hectic city. The rail was abandoned in 1934 after extensive flood damage. A few years later, the building was moved a bit northward, then restored to its present condition. The Cabaret will be open on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting. The show begins at 8:00; doors open at 7:30 if you want to sign up to play at one of several open mic spots. In addition to the music, visitors will enjoy snacks, veggies, and drinks (BYOB!). If you are interested in performing as a feature performer, want to sign up for an open mic spot, rent the Depot for an event, or simply want more information:

Thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who participated in Hanstock V – musicians, food vendors, volunteers, artists, artisans, farmers, and guests!

Despite the crazy weather Friday, Saturday arrived with a sultry feel, then turned bright blue, but still hot and humid. Around 6:00, a gentle drizzle moved in for about a half hour, and then the clouds rolled away ... All in all, it was a lovely day! And the music. And the art. And the food. Just WOW 💥

Special thanks to the Hancock Selectboard (Laurie Bryan, Jeff Brown, and Virginia Smith), Town Administrator Jonathan Coyne, Public Works Director Tyler Howe, Police Chief Horne and Officer Greiner, Fire Chief Tom Bates, Transfer Station Supervisor Rick Plankey, and Hancock Happenings editor Christina Madden. As we've said before, it takes a village to pull off an event like this, our little community simply rocks it! SUPER special thanks to the Board members and friends of the Hancock Depot Association for what amounts to nearly a full year of planning and organizing!

Annnnnd, we’re already planning next year’s event, so if you have any feedback or ideas – or if you’d like to sign up for the Hanstock Committee, please send us a private message.

In the meantime, please check the Hancock Depot Cabaret FB page regularly so you’re up to speed about Cabarets and other shows. We have some cool stuff coming up in October!

Cheerz!

Greetings friends! A number of people have asked us if Hanstock is still happening, and as of right now the answer is yes.

The stage is is set up and our sound company and several musicians are up from the NY and NJ area, so for now we're holding steady. We might get some rain tomorrow, but the WMUR weather guys say that it'll be hit or miss and not to cancel any outdoor plans.

Of course, the safety of our musicians, vendors, volunteers, and guests is our prime concern, so if the forecast changes dramatically we'll reassess things. Please be sure that we are actively watching the weather.

Thanks so much for all your support!

Hallo friends! We are looking for a few volunteers to help with grilling burgers, sausages, and such on Saturday for Old Days. We just need about two hours. Includes a free sandwich, chips, and a drink. Any takers??
