🚨Avoid Ordering From These Corporations And Being Disappointed 🚨
After another sketchy call from someone who sounded like they were in Nigeria this morning, here is your friendly reminder to not order flowers from those 1-800 places you find on the internet. And if you've recently placed an order through one of them for a Richard who has recently celebrated a birthday, Your flowers still haven't been delivered because no local florist will accept the order. Long story short, I cancelled an order for a Richard last week after realizing it sounds like a person trying to disguise his voice, and none of the information added up. The same person called me again today with their regular voice to place an order for the same Richard, when I asked him...."Didn't you try to place this order last week under a different name?' He immediately hung up the phone. Poor Richard, and poor customer that probably has no idea their order hasn't been fulfilled for 2 weeks. I'd love to deliver Richard his flowers if you'd call my shop directly!
Now here is WHY you should call your local florist instead:
You should not order from "order gatherers" because they are essentially middlemen who collect orders online and then pass them on to a local florist, often taking a large commission and potentially compromising the quality or personalization of your flower arrangement while not directly supporting a local business; it's generally better to find and order directly from a local florist in the area where you want the flowers delivered.
Key points about order gatherers:
Misleading presentation: They often appear to be a local florist online, but are not.
High markups: They can take a large percentage of the price you pay, leaving less for the actual florist who makes the arrangement. Which is why 99% of the time, you don't receive anything close to what the photo showed online.
Less control over quality: You might not know which local florist will fulfill your order, potentially impacting the quality of the flowers and design.
How to avoid order gatherers:
Search for local florists directly: Look for businesses with a physical address in the area where you want delivery.
Call to confirm: Contact the business by phone to ask questions about their delivery options and location.
Shearer's Florist does not fulfill any of these orders because I believe the customer should get exactly what they paid for and quality is important to me! I do not want to accept an order, just for the sender to be disappointed in what they received because the order gatherer takes a large portion of the sale. These large companies are putting your local florists out of business. Florists have had enough and many of us refuse to do business with them. It's 2024, and 99% of Florists now have very simple ways of ordering flowers directly from their own website, which means we no longer need to rely on these wire services and order gatherers. Shop locally!
