As some of you know.....in the past I was a contestant on the Worlds Greatest Chef. It was my attempt at trying to win the purse....NOT FOR ME....but for my trying to go back to the two schools in Kenya and renovate their kitchens so that they can provide much better meals for the students.
Imagine this is the kitchen that serves your children at their school every day?????? I am sure you all would be shocked and appalled.....so why is it so hard to raise money for me to return to these schools and do the right thing?
My being a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and having been lucky enough to grow up here in this country having the most amazing experiences has also allowed me to travel around the world meeting some of the most wonderful people. With that comes a sense of humility and respect for people who have a fraction of what we have here in the U.S. and yet.....they are so much happier and content. It is a very moving lesson to behold.
Now that my career is waning.....it is now time for me to give back and find ways to help with what I know.
I have a Go Fund me page set up to try to raise the money. I get it that these times right now are tight and challenging but if each person donated $5.......I could quite possibly raise enough money to renovate these kitchens.
