Streets around us and the side parking lot are still flooded. No significant damages found inside the building. We had a little amount of water that was on the floors in two parts of the building. Also, our big trash can floated away! We consider ourselves extremely fortunate. Hopefully there are not any hidden issues.

We hope all of you in the RGV are doing as well as you can after the torrential rains that flooded our area. Harlingen had 20+ inches in the past 48 hours. We don’t know anything about conditions at the theatre yet. Many streets are still flooded with water and we can’t safely drive over there to check. We will have news hopefully later today.

What is the Godspell experience all about you might ask?

It is a wildly imaginative and experimental musical theatre re-telling of the Gospel of St. Matthew (with a little Luke and John thrown in for good measure). The story involves a small troupe of people who help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing with an underlying story of community and compassion. It is not performed in a satirical kind of let's-make-fun-of-religion funny. Ultimately it's the kind of humor that arises from human beings behaving, according to their own human weaknesses.

The musical score and song lyrics conceived by Stephen Schwartz (Yes, of WICKED fame!), uses an eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop, folk, rock 'n' roll, jazz, Motown, and vaudeville to tell the story of Jesus' life as teacher and leader of a small band of faithful followers where his messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life on stage.
