It seems fitting that we make this announcement exactly 8 years after starting this business....
After a year of deliberating back and forth and some true soul searching, we have decided to take a (semi permanent) break from our DJ business. ðŸ˜
As most of you know, we spent almost a decade fighting to be come parents and start a family. It was my biggest goal, to be a Mom. The first few years was the hardest...and it became clear I needed a hobby to occupy my time, and keep me from going crazy. My love for music made it easy to figure out, J had a business degree and helped me with the official boring stuff. He had a day job with weekends free, and so did I. Business started slow at first, and then exploded.
You all hired me for tons of events, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, proms, graduations, camp parties, fundraisers, benefits, and 2 bars had me on various weekends where I saw...a lot of interesting stuff. 😳
Then I started videography...I did more weddings and pageants, school plays and social events.
And then the accident...J broke his foot right before my busiest year yet, and my clients made me feel welcome and helped when I needed an extra hand, you all fed me amazing food and supported me. J healed and got 2 jobs that required him to work weekends. We saved every penny, and was able to become what we had always dreamed of: parents to a beautiful baby boy.
I took a few months off, but last year was rough. I only did a few events, but my heart was at home, with my family. J couldn't help me anymore, and truly we did this for fun, to spend time together, rock everyone's nights, showcase my extensive musical knowledge, and yeah make a little money. It just wasn't the same anymore. We were DJ EJ, not just DJ E. We spent so long dreaming and crying and fighting for a family, it was killing me to be away, no matter how much fun I was having DJ'ing.
I am SO thankful, for every amazing gig, every night at the bar, every recommendation, every tag and comment on social media. I had big plans for DJ EJ, but I guess sometimes we have to take a step back and remember what is most important. I'll still finish with events that have been booked this year, and who knows, maybe I'll step back behind the computer and headphones once in a while. But for now, it's time to focus on family.
Keep dancing 💃 and thanks for everything!
See you soon,
