As one of the largest indoor Horse Shows in the United States, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show offers sponsors excellent exposure to exhibitors from around the world as well as to spectators from the mid Atlantic region. 🚨 We have record-breaking news!! 🚨 For 2024-2025, our PNHS Foundation was able to award nearly $100,000 in grant funding to therapeutic riding centers, equine rescues and other equine-assisted services programs! 🙌🏼 🎉

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Walnut Grove Farms LLC. on the loss of Slam Dunk (better known as "Duncan"), our 2022 PNHS Foundation Therapy Horse of the Year. 💔

When nominating Duncan for Horse of the Year, his Walnut Grove family wrote, "Duncan is our “steady-Eddy”...our go-to for new and timid riders. He has been a lesson horse for both therapeutic and recreational students for over a decade and has never missed a beat! For two riders in particular, Duncan has been a source of peace and safety. One rider with cerebral palsy and epilepsy was able to trot independently because of Duncan’s calm demeanor and consistent gait. During one lesson, he felt this rider begin a seizure before anyone else knew (including the rider)! He planted his feet and would not move a muscle until the rider was safely dismounted. This specific rider has tragically passed recently due to external circumstances, but Duncan will always be a staple in their family as a shoulder to cry on and remember all of the incredible memories with this rider when they come to visit him at the farm regularly!" ❤️

Each year, Foundation Friday and the LifeVac USA Therapeutic Riding Championships provide riders from across the state with the opportunity to compete at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in a year-end final!

This year, the PNHS Foundation provided Horses & Horizons Therapeutic Learning Center, Inc. with the funds to replace their old equipment carts, after they shared:

"The program currently utilizes two large garden carts to move and organize tack and equipment during lessons. These are necessary since the horses are prepared in the ring far from the barn where the tack is stored. To move the tack this distance also requires us to move it across a roadway, so having the carts to move it all at once cuts down on possible dangers that come from the crossing. The current carts are over 20 years old and showing their age. The tires are in need of replacing, and the wood decking is worn and cracking in spots."

While replacing worn-out equipment is extremely important, it's just scratching the surface of the funding needs of therapeutic riding programs. To help us make an even greater impact in 2024/2025, make your tax-deductible donation here ⤵️
