As the President of the
North Arkansas Rusty Wheels Old Engine Club, Ken Clements, just said, we will be having a work day on June the 4th at the showgrounds. Need to tidy things up to get ready for our big Spring show, June 10 and 11th.
May be some mowing and w**d eating, moving of some implements, gathering of tree branches from past storms.
I think it will be our best show ever.
Cross your fingers for a rain free event. The temperature will be just fine. Even arm chair quarterbacks are welcome to this work day. Hope to see you there. Remember, admission to our show is FREE !

04/07/2022

We will be having our monthly meeting on Saturday, the 8th of April. There will be food, fun, and a lot of discussion, getting ready for our Spring Show, June 10th and 11th. Please join us if you can.

05/15/2021

After some discussion with the President of the club on my front porch, I am able to say that I am a member of North Arkansas Old Engine Club. It is not too late to start advertising, so please come to our show, June 11 and 12.

03/13/2021

Just a reminder, we will be having our monthly meeting tomorrow, Saturday the 13, at noon. Our February meeting was canceled or just plumb froze out due to the weather.
There will be food and fellowship and important issues to discuss as we prepare for our Spring show. See us if you can.

02/12/2021

The President of the Club contacted me today and said there will be NO monthly meeting in February. We had a small ice storm a couple of days ago, and with no sunshine and bitterly cold temperatures, the ice remains on the ground.
Safety remains our top concern here at Rusty Wheels, so stay inside if you can and keep warm.

01/06/2021

Posting this in case I forget to tomorrow.
Our monthly meeting for January is Saturday the 9th at noon.
There will be discussion, and chili, along with other sides and desserts. Please join us if you can. According to the weather forecast you may want to bring an umbrella too.,

Here is the last page of my 2020 calendar. It is a 1950 McCormick Deering Farmall Cub Two-Seater.
Look closely at the design. Two seats,,, two steering wheels, and only one is functional.
Seems like Dad sat on the right, while the son sat on the left.
From all of us here at Rusty Wheels, have very Merry Christmas.

I keep forgetting to add this picture of my November calendar photo to this page. It is a 1957 Ford 1841 Industrial.
I do not believe the rear wheel weights were standard.

We will be having turkey, ham, sides, as well a desserts. Be sure to attend as there will be a review of our successful Fall show that we had in October.

We had a wonderful Fall show at Rusty Wheels this year. Sorry if you missed it. This display took me by surprise. It what John Deere called the "Patio Tractor". Seems like folks were getting tired of the traditional Green and yellow lawn mowers. These colorful things had the frames painted white instead of black, and the engines themselves were painted white. Produced 1969 through 1971.

I hope the weatherman is not a liar.
He is predicting 82* for Friday and 83* for Saturday, the days of our show, with lots of sunshine.

Here is the picture of a picture on my October calendar page.
It is a 1940 J.I. Case C. It looks sort of beefy. I noticed the hand crank on the front. I would not want to do that.
Remember that we have a work day on October the 3rd, in preparation for our show October 9th and 10th.
Free Admission.

09/24/2020

We had a good meeting September 19th.
We will have a show October 9th and 10th. A work day has been scheduled for October the 3rd, a week before the show.
Sort of a spit and polish to our show grounds to make this the best show you ever visited.

09/11/2020

UPDATE : Our meeting usually scheduled for September 12th has been moved to the following Saturday, September, the 19th.
This is the last meeting before our show October, 9th and 10th.
We will spiff up the place and get last minute preparations done.
If you cannot make it to the meeting, please make plans to see the show. We will do our best to make this fun for the entire family.
Remember, FREE admission. What do you have to lose ?

Howdy Folks ! This is the September picture on my calendar.
A 1954 Oliver Industrial. It is a 66 model tractor.
Funny how I thought all Olivers were green. Being as how it is painted in a bright yellow, and being as it is called the industrial, I wonder if any of these went along highways pulling a mower.
Last meeting before our show in October is September 12th.
I will try to fill you in on all the details.

This is the page that I get to stare at this month of July on my calendar. A 1958 Ford 900 Powermaster. I was checking out those beefy rear tires, and that slightly cushioned seat.
I noticed all the weights. Front, sides, and even on the rear wheels. Not real sure if those were factory options.

Without going into great detail, we had a very productive meeting today at Rusty Wheels.

I made a trip to Rusty Wheels today just to unlock the front gate. The men paving the highway decided to not only lay asphalt in the driveway, but they decided to lay a strip of pavement up and down our driveway. Won't that be nice ?
Things just keep getting better for our show.

05/31/2020

I received my Rusty Wheels newsletter the other day. I hope you did too. I guess the big news is that those who have not paid their dues, this is the last newsletter that you will receive.
Making, printing, folding, and mailing a newsletter is a chore. Believe me, I know. Now with postage over 50 cents a stamp, it is expensive too. From 96 copies to only paid members will save the club lots of money.
The final decision as to if we will have a Spring show is still up in the air. We will know June 1st, and I will keep you informed.

05/26/2020

Long time member of Rusty Wheels,Bob Evans,80, passed away. An active member of the club for years, who invented the club's newsletter, and this page.
He will sorely be missed. Rest In Peace, Bob.

05/10/2020

A very active meeting today at Rusty Wheels. A decision as to whether or not to have a Spring Show is still up in the air. A final decision will be made June 1st.
This being May the 9th, and June 1st being about 3 weeks away, this gives everyone a chance to see what this COVID 19 stuff is going to do. Hopefully it will all just go away.
If approved to have a show, that gives us only 10 days to get everything ready. We will be super busy ! More later....

05/08/2020

A reminder.... during these times, we do, and practice, social distancing. So please come out and join us tomorrow for our monthly meeting.

05/08/2020

We will have our monthly meeting at Rusty Wheels on Saturday, May the 9th, at noon. The weather will be a bit on the cool side, so it is a good day to have chili and stew, along with the usual sides and great desserts.
This meeting I think will be very important, as we will find out if we will EVEN have a Spring Show, June 12th and 13th, due to all this crazy COVID-19 stuff going around.
As usual, the safety of our members and all of our guests takes top priority. I will let you know the outcome.

I forgot my camera today, but several of the fellas got together and started the big Fairbanks Morse engine today. First, there were some small adjustments to be made on our air compressor, and then that big, giant motor started right up.
Some fixing on the cooling system on it, and it will be ready to operate our sawmill. Did my heart good to hear it run again.

Tomorrow, several men are getting together and we will start our giant 3 cylinder Fairbanks-Morse engine which powers the sawmill. Starting this beast is no easy task. You don't just turn a key or push a button.
It starts on air power and requires a big compressor like the one you see here. You may have seen something like it running a jackhammer.
I will take pictures and let you know how it goes. I love the sound of the exhaust as it runs. It sounds like a melody.

We had a great day at Rusty Wheels on our scheduled work day. Lots of metal work went on. A couple of the men are very good welders. Keep tuned here for further updates.

Mother Nature blessed us with a wonderful day at Rusty Wheels, and so much work got done today. The entire grounds got mowed today thanks to members bringing and operating their mowers. There were some adjustments made to some of our bigger engines, like this 20 horse Superior. A piece of rain gutter installed above the doorway of the clubhouse.
I don't know if my pictures do it justice, but the East side of what I call the "machine shed" has been opened up, where there once was only a wall.
There will be another work day coming soon, and I will keep you informed. All to make this the best show ever.

04/15/2020

Thought I better get this out early so we can get a better response.
We will be having a work day tomorrow, April 16th at the showgrounds. Please come and help if you can. Armchair quarterbacks welcome too.

04/10/2020

Despite this crazy corona virus, I am happy to announce that we WILL be having our monthly meeting at Rusty Wheels on Saturday, April the 11th. The clubhouse is a good sized building, and we will have no problem doing our social distancing, and keeping the suggested 6 feet apart.
Much to be discussed, and probably lots to do around the showgrounds. Our goal is to be the best show this Spring.

We had a wonderful day and great weather at Rusty Wheels today.
Poured 7 cubic yards of fiber infused cement between three different locations. A driveway that kept washing out after a heavy rain, shored up our big 3 cylinder Fairbanks-Morse engine that runs the sawmill, and made what amounts to a be wheelchair ramp there by our public restrooms/showers.
Thanks to everyone that showed up and lent a helping hand.

Here is the picture on the April page of my calendar.
It is a Cockshutt Black Hawk Golden Eagle. 1956.
Can't say as I've ever seen one.
We plan on pouring cement around the base of the sawmill tomorrow. It has dried up enough to get a truck through.
Please drop by and help us if you can.
