Free Union Music is a Charlottesville, Virginia based collective led by Michael Coleman on vocals and rhythm guitar, Rob Dunnenberger on drums, Carrie Coleman on vocals, Parker Hawkins on bass, and Tyler Hutcherson on keys.

The band’s sound is not distillable, it’s ever-evolving music is rooted in soul and incorporates rhythm and blues, rock, and pop into its sound. In its short history, Free Union has found quick momentum playing music festivals, being featured on NPR, and a national appearance on the acclaimed WXPN National Public Radio program World Café in 2020.

Free Union has maintained a stream of releases building on their catalog along their live show. Poised for a breakout year in 2023, the band has plans for multiple releases.

Downtown Harrisonburg is gearing up for the next Rocktown Beer & Music Festival. But we definitely can’t do it without some helping hands.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help pour beer or assist at the gate with tickets and checking ID. If you have experience in these tasks or have an interest in learning more about craft beer we would love to have you as volunteers. In return for your time and effort each volunteer will receive entry into the festival, a volunteer t-shirt, a souvenir mug and five tickets for tasting beer during your non-working hours.

In lieu of tasting tickets, 2nd shift volunteers will receive a special tasting gift at the completion of their shift. Additionally you will get to enjoy a day great bands and get to talk with other craft beer lovers! All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and proof of your age will be required the day of the festival.

This year we have two volunteer shifts. First shift volunteers will assist in festival set up and second shift volunteers will assist in festival shut down. All positions will be filled on a first come, first served basis so don’t wait to volunteer! We will try our best to give you your choice of shift, but cannot guarantee your preferred shift.
