We have started consultations with our summer couples for this year and I have to say I am so excited about all the color requests! I think gorgeous Anna might have started a trend with her colorful wedding from this past July! 🩵🩷💛💜

Could it be?! Is a warm spell approaching?! If you need us we will be enjoying this break from the bitter cold by weeding beds, planting more tulips and dreaming about sunflower days 🌻

If your New Year’s resolutions sounded anything like…
-Find more joy.
-Play outside.
-See more beauty in the world.
-Move my body more.
Then maybe tending a flower garden should be in your 2025 plan! Our Grow-Your-Own kits come ready to go in the ground in May with a guide to planting, care and harvesting your cut flowers. These are the same varieties we grow on our farm and will produce blooms all summer long for your vases. 🌻 Have questions? I was reminded over the past few days, with the ban of the TkTk app, how important it is to build our community outside of social media. At any given moment, with no warning at all, places like Facebook and Instagram could go dark, or our accounts are shut down, and we are left with few ways to reach out to you. So, I encourage you to sign up for emails from your favorite small businesses! In a world where so many things are out of our control, our email lists and our websites are the only things marketing wise, local businesses can manage. So, my challenge to you today is to make sure you're able to connect to your favorite local places, I hope we are included and maybe even think about leaving a Google review! This helps other people find us when just searching the old fashion web. If you're interested, here are the deets!

Thank you for being here and loving local flowers! 🌼

Anytime it’s below freezing, you can find us covering the plants that produce flowers like these. In the morning after the sun comes out, you’ll find us back out uncovering them to soak up some sunshine. Cover, uncover, cover, uncover. A never ending loop all winter long but it’s worth it to have stunning blooms in April for our CSA subscribers! If you love spring blooms, hop on over to our website and reward yourself for braving today’s frigid temps with the promise of spring! 🌷

After being away a couple days, I came home to tulips looking good in preparation for Valentine’s Day! We are really trying hard to have some local, floral goodness for that day of love this year 💝

It’s been a long time since we’ve grown poppies. They can be a bit tricky unless you’ve got them growing under cover and for the past few years we haven’t had the space. Fortunately, with the addition of our 2nd tunnel, we’ve decided to give them another whirl. You can find these beauties among many other spring ephemerals in our April flower CSA this year!

A morning walk revealed all is well at Wild Roots. We are feeling extra grateful to have maintained power so the our greenhouse and high tunnels stayed warm. Hoping our fellow farmers are fairing as well in this weather. 🤞🏻

I think what I’m most looking forward to in 2025 is the opportunity to just embrace what we have built. Since we bought our farm in 2020 it has been all about putting down roots, for us in the literal sense. We’ve been planting perennials, building infrastructure, it’s been go go go for almost 5 years now. This year we can finally just sit with what we’ve accomplished and take a good look at where we want to be 5 years from now. It’s an exciting time. ✨

We may not have flowers blooming right now but it is one of the most exciting times of the year for me! Over the next month or so we will dive deep into planning mode. Over the years I’ve learned it’s not only about the spreadsheets and receipts but also a time to take a hard look at how the year FELT. Our goal is to not only be sustainable in our farming practices but also in our life outside of the business. That’s how we will stick around growing flowers for y’all for a long, long time! So, yes we will be pulling out the data, crunching the numbers and seeing what did or did not work financially but also personally and for a dorky, data girl like me, it’s VERY exciting!

We have finally hit our period of slowdown, just in time for the holidays. ✨While there is still plenty of weeding and cleaning up to do before things get crazy, we are enjoying the extra time indoors in the evenings. The dogs however, not so much ha ha
Sending you all love and light as we transition into winter and I hope you enjoy the quiet time as much as we do!

Our Story

Wild Roots is a specialty cut flower farm, and floral design studio located in the charming town of Danville, Kentucky. Alexis’ love of flowers began in a floral design class while pursuing her horticulture degree. Originally only a wedding designer, under the name Happily Ever After, the desire to grow and provide sustainably grown flowers to customers all around Kentucky grew the business from strictly floral design into what is now Wild Roots, both farmer and florist.
