I love using non traditional combinations for flower arrangements. Green tick dianthus, succulents and tulips. It is also fun to use colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. If you are planning your wedding do not be influenced by trends and an algorithm that show later you what you should have for your wedding. The bridesmaids dresses do not have to match. You do not have to have a social media worthy wedding. Be present for your day and invest in why you are celebrating and not the celebrations. Be conscious of the planet and the stuff you are buying. You can repurpose and rent and recycle. Use color or don’t …but choose because that is what you want and not what wedding websites and google is telling you it is what you want.

Camp weddings in Vermont…special. Vermont has so many amazing venues and places to celebrate a wedding. From the top of a mountain, backyard, luxury resorts. You can have a view of meadows, mountains, barns or upscale historic villages and of course the lakes!!

So many amazing and talented vendors right here in the green mountains.

I love the colors in this bouquet. Ask me my favorite colors and it changes. I do love when colors opposite each other combine to create a visual “pop”. I remember color theory classes at felt like torture in the early years. I did not understand the significance of how important color is in paintings. Color is an essential ingredient to event work. Not every piece needs to have the same percentages of color. Not every color has to match. As long as you create a palette and use those colors throughout an event.

Yellow and blue are perfect for a winter themed bouquet. This style of bouquet is called a presentation or sheath bouquet.

Even though the bouquets are in a league of their own now, hand-tied bouquets date back to the 14th century when the uber-rich women used to carry the original nose g**s (small clusters of flowers wrapped in moss) to keep unpleasant odors away.

The arm bouquet first became popular in the early 1900's under the name of Bernhardt bouquets; inspired by the presentation bouquets given to the actress of the day, Sarah Bernhardt. They are long stemmed flowers and foliages that the bride carries cradled in her arm, also known as a presentation bouquet.

Better known as an “arm sheath” bouquet, this stunning style is most recognized as the bouquet of beauty pageants. The long stems typically show and are held by cradling the bouquet in one’s arm.

So it is your wedding. Think outside or inside the box.

You can carry a bouquet that is trending or not carry one. Carry a posy or wear fresh flower designs. Not all weddings have the wedding party carrying bouquets. There are no “rules”. It is your special day and you can choose to create a celebration that is you. The possibilities are endless.

Love the space for a wedding. Lots of light and high ceilings. The Mad River Valley, my former home is beautiful.

So lucky to get dahlias from

This season I was lucky to get flowers from local flower farms and visited at least one that I had not known about. It is not easy being a farmer and especially in Vermont. This summer was a challenge and here is a shout out to Nicole and others for their commitment and hard work. Do you know how much goes into producing a healthy flower?

I do 🥹I have a garden of them where a front lawn used to be.

Dahlias are really tricky to grow. I tried!!!!

So those dahlias are worth every penny.

Wow I just found this beautiful amazing video from a wedding I did flowers for last summer. I hope to post some images to instagram as well. The couple was wonderful and when you watch it you can see they are surrounded by love of family and friends. So excited to share this……
