Our Story
Mortensen Riverfront Plaza is a landscaped park over I-91 in downtown Hartford. This bustling park is home to large festivals like the annual Dragon Boat & Asian Festival and The Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival, as well as free, weekly fitness classes like yoga and Riverbarre.
Parking is available on surrounding streets, in the Front Street and Convention Center garages, and at the MAT garage. You can also park in Great River Park or Riverside Park, and walk to the plaza. Mortensen Riverfront Plaza is one of four parks managed by Riverfront Recapture, in addition to Charter Oak Landing and Riverside Park, also in Hartford, and Great River Park in East Hartford. These parks give millions of people access to the state’s most beautiful natural resource, the Connecticut River. The four parks and Riverwalk trail system cover 148 acres along 3.5 miles along the Connecticut River. They feature trails for walking, running and biking, picnic areas, playgrounds, football and softball fields, a cricket pitch, volleyball courts, boat launches, prime spots for fishing and bird-watching, sculptures, murals, the Lincoln Sculpture Walk, and so much more.
