The vegetation at Illuminations is simply remarkable this time of year. Wildflowers are in full bloom and even the yucas are flowering. Plus you can’t beat the smell of the ponderosa pines.

In order for me to run Illuminations, I have to be authentic. Which doesn’t mean all we talk about are weddings, how beautiful it is or the perfect day.

Sometimes we need to talk s**t, or in this post, we are talking about the s**tter! Also lovingly given to us by our friend Linda Starr, this porta pot lives at the campground and is full of character and pizazz. Hand painted with mountains, pine trees and flowers, I think it blends nicely with its surroundings but stands out just enough to bring attention to itself. 😉

BUT IT NEEDS A NAME! Best suggestion wins s**tter naming rights!

We have had people question why Illuminations went silent on social media for the last few months. It is true, we haven’t posted since January and we also stopped all advertising. This seems silly to some because Illuminations was a growing business and going silent didn’t seem to make sense.

But we knew two things were true. One, after last year’s end of season family medical scare, we needed restoration and rejuvenation. I have referenced it to being the same as plants in the winter, where they live dormant to come back bigger, more beautiful and more resilient every summer. The second truth is, we knew God would hold a space for us and Illuminations and those that needed to find us, God would make a way.

Illuminations has woken up from its winter nap and so have we. 💜

The venue was loyally hand crafted by the hands of family or friends, and this sign serves as a testimony to the labor of love that built Illuminations.

The couple from our very last wedding of the season was hoping for a chilly fall wedding and it was delivered. The day turned out perfectly!
