On this day one year ago, my life changed...Forever. I think people call this day their CancerVersary.

On November 6th last year, Mitchell Aundre Smith & I sat waiting for the results to my biopsy. The doctor walked in & said "we found a little bit of cancer & it was caught early." I didn't hear much of anything else he said after that. I actually had to make another appointment just so he could explain everything to me again.

So Here I am, one year later. Still fighting...still going through treatments. A few more weeks of radiation therapy left & one more targeted treatment in three weeks.

I'm so grateful for early detection. It saved my life. I didn't find a lump or have any strange things going on with my breast. My gynecologist never felt a lump. The mammogram caught it, my third mammogram.

Although I'm so very grateful that it was caught early & that I've had an awesome care team/doctors & nurses, and what has turned into a very small support circle...it hasn't been easy. This isn't just a physical challenge, it's a mental, emotional & financial challenge also.

Imagine finally opening the doors to a business you've been dreaming about & building for years, only to be sidelined by an unexpected health complication. Then you're no longer able to do what you were once fully capable of doing to drive, push & support that business....My Baby.

And that's literally only half of what you're dealing with. At some point, as big as that was it became a very small part of the picture. When your very being is being challenged, everything comes into perspective. EVERYTHING!! I'm also grateful for finding a great therapist/counselor. Sometimes you need someone outside of your situation to help you sort things out. Especially when you're feeling overwhelmed & at maximum capacity. Don't feel bad about doing what's best for you!

But on this day, one year later...I'm Thankful. Thankful for Life. Thankful that I don't look like what I've been through! Thankful to the people who have been in my corner, supporting me, checking on me, praying for me, seeing about me & encouraging me. It has meant more than I could ever explain. I'm Thankful to God for who He is, has been & will Always be in my life. I could go on & on, but that's for a different time.

WHAT A WEEK IT'S BEEN!!

I don't really remember what happened on Monday...lol Tuesday morning I had treatment. Yes, I'm still taking treatments, Targeted Treatments. On Wednesday I had the test run for radiation. I was NOT OKAY & you can see it in my face. Thursday morning was the real thing & I was much better by then. I had my second radiation treatment on Friday morning. I have 23 more to go! I should hopefully & prayerfully complete all/both treatments by the end of next month!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Saturday morning we catered lunch for the International Student Department at USM. This was our 3rd year providing their Homecoming 🦅 lunch. Sadly, I don't have any pictures 🤦🏾‍♀️. I'm thankful that the department continues to reach out to us for our services!

75 Hamburgers, 25 Veggie Burgers, 150 Crispy Halal Chicken Sandwiches & 150 Grilled Halal Chicken Sandwiches. Including the toppings of Lettuce, tomatoes, onions & pickles & the condiments! That's a Total of 400 Sandwiches!!! 🍔🥬🍅🧅🥒

On today, I did something I never thought I would do & that was speak in front of a crowd of people!! If you Really know me, you Know that I'm not much of a talker in a crowd. 😬

My cousin Aleshia Johnson asked me to speak at her church's Breast Cancer 💟 Awareness Program. Initially I almost said no but instead said let me think about it. I agreed a few days later because I remembered telling God in the beginning of this journey that this wasn't just for me, only for me or all about me! I decided that I had already done a lot of scary things this year, so I may as well do this too! I had typed up some things to say but didn't use it. Instead I spoke from my head & my heart. I had been praying all week for God to give me something to say that would help someone else. Little did I know that I would be so Blessed by this event. I'm so glad that I was obedient because I left with more than I came with! ❤🙌🏾

Now that I have finally stopped crying 😢 lol, I'm going to try to rest. Tomorrow starts a new week of radiation & a big event on Thursday. So I've got to get rested & ready!!

I'm So Grateful!!!🙌🏾
