Happy Halloween! This wreath was a custom order for Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead: a celebration of life and death. The holiday began in Mexico and is celebrated all over Latin America with colorful calaveras (skulls) and calacas (skeletons). Marigolds are a significant part of Dia de Los Mu***os. The bright and fragrant flowers are thought to attract the souls of passed loved ones.

Halloween is in the air! This wreath is so bright and festive....there is a tiny spider friend lurking within the bright colors! He's made out of spent native sunflower heads and wire, then spray painted. So cute. This wreath contains statice, bells of Ireland marigolds, willow leaves, dyed motherwort and sea holly.

Well....it happened: we had our first killing frost, but we are not (that) sad. Our last fresh arrangement for the year went out yesterday. We are still going to keep going throughout the fall and winter, using our stock of beautifully dried blooms and foliage. we can do any kind of dried floral art you can dream up....garlands, centerpieces, wreaths, spiders (stay tuned!). We will debut some spooky Halloween art next week. Call ahead to get your special order!
We will be planting a brand new crop of bulbs here in a week or so! These bulbs will be our first blooms this coming spring and we are already dreaming of them!

I cannot believe we are still cutting fresh flowers on October 2nd! We typically get our first killing frost mid September! Looks like we may have a few days left of fresh arrangements...call today to get one or make a special order for a dried flower wreath, willow ball, wall hanging or centerpiece. We've been busy!! These dried floral pieces are made 100% from flowers and foliage we've grown from seed or propagation. This year we really dove into some new drying techniques and are we are so pleased with the result! Each flower gets it own special treatment to retain it's color and beauty for fall and winter color. In the past we've foraged willow for our wreath frames and willow balls.....but this year we grew our own willow in the field.
We are excited to have offer up these beauties at the After Harvest Jam at Montana Style Events tomorrow! There will be LOADS of vendors, local food trucks, and great music!

Late summer colors. Fall is peeking through, but still lots of bright colors. The mix of fall and late summer blooms is so romantic. Lots of herbs as filler....rosemary, sage and citrus basil. The smell is wonderful.
What a whirlwind August has been!! Tolan and I just finished up helping my family harvest wheat, we were able to keep our heads above water in the flower field and the wheat field (for the most part 😂), but we need a week to catch up on field work and begin the process of drying flowers for fall wreaths, and other floral art. We won't be able to make the market this week, but will be back the following week. Well....that moth didn't bring luck....she brought a downpour....which, I guess is great, but we had to quickly run and get everything in the van. We are still here selling the last 9 bunches in the parking lot in the white van.
