CAN DO community park’s tree lighting was a huge success! Although it was slightly wet, it was so nice to see all of our students that made it out!
Ho ho ho what a show! First Friday in Downtown Hazleton followed the tradition of rainy weather for big events—but that didn’t stop us from having a good time! 😃 CAN DO, Inc. sponsored hot chocolate and the lighting of the tree in CAN DO Community Park. Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress sponsored the Wassail Fest, which started at the Hazleton LaunchBox supported by Pasco L. Schiavo Esq. We had Belgian waffles, a petting zoo, vendors and the gallery opening at the Hazleton Art League! There was so much going on, you had to see it to believe it. Check out these photos!
This debit card was found at CAN DO Community Park outside of the Hazleton Art League this evening (Friday, December 1). Please call 570-455-3333 and leave a message if this is your card.
We’re getting ready for tonight’s tree lighting at the Hazleton Art League!

If you ever get the chance to see the artwork of Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera, you will not be disappointed.
This image of Frida Khalo and Emmy Lou Packard was taken by Diego M. Rivera in Coyoacan, Mexico City, Mexico in 1941. This photograph tells an interesting story beyond its frame and is currently being exhibited in our gallery!
This photograph features artist and icon Frida Kahlo, who is most widely known for her paintings, which depict the female experience and form through own experiences, and her dedication to Mexican and indigenous culture. Kahlo is pictured standing with fellow artist Emmy Lou Packard, most known for being a studio assistant to Rivera, who was herself a socially conscious artist and creator and whose influence reaches beyond her association with Rivera.
This photograph was taken by Diego Rivera, husband of Frida Kahlo, an artist known for his frescoes and murals in and around Mexico. Their relationship could be described as tumultuous at best and a disaster at worst, plagued with infidelity and misfortune, but moments like the one captured in this photograph show moments of peace and care between the two.
The has begun! This Tuesday, November 28, 2023, is the perfect time to donate to the Hazleton Art League!
