I am part of this amazing group of farmers who each week list what we have available for pickup in Santa Rosa the following week or delivery throughout Sonoma County, Marin and into San Francisco. We sell to florists, event planners and venues, restaurants, decoraters, retail stores, basically anyone who uses fresh flowers in their business. This little cutie was observing a lesson in rose pruning today, hope she learned a lot! As much as I love her company it’s not always realistic when trying to power through and get some serious work done, and that’s the reality of farming (or working in general) as a parent. This month was a really rough one for me, I was sick or my girls were for almost all 28 days in February. We had RSV, and a cold or possibly Covid and it knocked me on my butt. The girls missed days of daycare and stayed home with me as I tried to do computer work. Add in rain to the mix and I got so little done I started worrying that I would get so far behind that the season would be a wash. This is why I still have about 30 roses that still need pruning…that should have been done a month ago! I’m learning to give myself some grace and deal with the setbacks. It’s not easy being a one woman show with a toddler and an infant but I’m trying everyday to build something I’m proud of and today was the first day in weeks I feel 100% healthy again and it was warm and sunny and the baby cooperated even though she was home with me, it was a good day.

Before and after! My greenhouse was ignored in 2024 and now its been fixed up and almost ready for seed starting in January. Plus my husband Tom made me a new potting table! The one I had was ridiculously old and on its last legs, literally. Feeling great about checking the greenhouse makeover off my to do list and starting 2025 with shiny, new things.

Autumn bride vibes 🍂🍁 The design request for this bouquet was tight and traditional using homegrown flowers with fall colors while balancing pure white ones to match her dress. One crazy detail about this wedding was it downpoured for 15 minutes before the reception started completely soaking everything. In the end everyone had a sense of humor about it, but it’s good luck for rain on your wedding day, right?!

Fresh floral really does make a positive impact with your customers, clients and your own well being at home. I use locally grown stems from other farms I know personally and from my own field and ranch. I’m now offering delivery on Thursdays and Fridays with a $120 minimum order plus a delivery fee. This wedding at Beltane Ranch in the Sonoma Valley had pops of bold fall colors to make the floral really stand out against the neutral greenery of the landscaping. Yes, the venue is absolutely gorgeous but if you want a modest amount of floral to make a big impact in a space like that, choose colors that are bright or provide lots of contrast, that will be what your guests look at first.

Winegrapes for sale! Know anyone who is still looking for fruit this year? Tzabaco Rancho Vineyards has 7 varietals available.

My flowers are grown on a small plot on my family’s vineyard which is 70 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and more here in Dry Creek Valley, so easy to say that grapes our big cash crop and the flowers are small potatoes comparatively. My husband manages the vineyard and is the 6th generation to farm our land. This year we have an abundance of winegrapes that still need buyers.
