Did you know that in California you don’t actually sign your marriage license on your wedding day? You actually sign it when you pick it up.

We still add marriage license signing to our timeline however, usually right after the ceremony. This way you can spend a few moments alone with a celebratory drink and some appetizers while our team gathers your officiant and witnesses for the actual signing. Once they sign you can celebrate the fact that you are officially married and then go join cocktail hour to celebrate with everyone!

The prettiest spring invitation suite you’ve ever seen 💕

When Meggie, Mark and I started chatting about colors they were really influence by the colors of the Mediterranean and Italy so we landed on a juicy palette of warm tones inspired by the Mediterranean including this gorgeous sea blue, pops of sweet yellow and orange zest with hints of petal pink, peach fuzz and lilac. We couldn’t have asked for a better color palette for their Spring San Francisco wedding.

Orange isn’t just a fall color anymore! We’ve noticed over the past two years that orange is playing a more prominent role in our spring designs. With the desire to bring in the natural landscape and pull in the colors of the spring wildflowers like the California poppy, orange has been popping up more and more in spring designs. It used to be my least favorite color and now, well I’m in love! Don’t feel that you need to be restrained by “typical” seasonal colors. When you pull from nature it is always going to be gorgeous!

Thinking traditional white flowers aren’t for you for your ceremony? Your ceremony flowers can be whatever you want them to be. They don’t need to be on arch. You can play with shapes, heights and color blocking. We love when the ceremony flowers really set the scene and tone for the wedding so why not go all out?! Maybe you’ll get lucky and a hot air balloon will cruise by your ceremony!

Springtime Tuscan wedding inspiration.

I love combining soft neutrals, stoneware and a patterned linen with a fun pop of color for this Tuscan inspired wedding. When came to me with the idea of a luxe springtime Tuscany inspired wedding I was hooked. And even more so when I saw new collection. And so this gorgeous luxe table was born. I am in love with how all of this came together and can’t wait to execute it on a larger scale!

Detail shots are not just for the women. Oftentimes when morning details are talked about it includes the invitations, the rings, any additional jewelry, veils, etc… But we can’t forget the gentlemen as well!

For the gentleman here are the items that most often are pulled for details shots:

Socks or suspenders
Ci**rs and cigar cutters
Hidden jacket details - think the inside lining of you are doing something custom or if you have something embroidered on the inside

Let’s talk wedding shoes!

First off, they will get dirty especially if you spend any time outside. Just be ready for that. So don’t feel pressured to spend a ton of money on your shoes if you don’t want to.

When purchasing your shoes think about the material of your dress. Does your dress have a lot of tulle layer or lace? You may want to forego a shoes with a ton of detailing that could snag on the dress. You don’t want your shoes to be catching your dress all night so be sure to walk around with both your dress and potential shoes to make sure there is no chance of snagging and tripping.

Be sure to have your shoes before your first dress fitting and if you plan on a change of shoes be sure to bring both to your fittings. You will want to make sure that the length works for both pairs so you aren’t tripping once you switch.

If you plan on insoles to make your shoes more comfortable make sure they are removable or put them in after your photographer takes the photos.

When purchasing your wedding shoes do not forget to think about the terrain at your wedding venue and not just for the ceremony. Think about potential first look spots, cocktail hour, etc…. You want to make sure your shoes work for everything.

Finally, do not forget to break in your shoes! I promise you will be a thousand times more happy if you do this! Think about photos and the ceremony alone. You will be standing a lot and you do not want the pain in your feet to detract from your wedding ceremony! Wear your shoes around the house often leading up to your wedding day!

And as a bonus, your wedding shoes can be whatever you want them to be. They don’t need to be a perfect white heel. If you want to wear a pair of sneakers, do it. If you want to bring in a fun pop of color, yes please! If you want to get the most rhinestone covered shoes ever then do it! Wear what makes you feel like you and what you will be comfortable in!

Let’s chat wedding details. One thing your photographer will ask you about is which items you would like photographed as part of your wedding details. Typically, this includes your rings, your wedding invitations, any additional jewelry or accessories including cufflinks, any heirloom items, your shoes, veil or headpiece and more.

One of the best things to do is to already have these items in one spot for your photographer ready to go the morning of your wedding. It is one less thing to think about the day of your wedding and helps to make sure you won’t forget anything important!

It may seem silly to photograph some of these details but never forget that your wedding photos are a record of your wedding day. As the years go on, you may not remember exactly what your stationary looked like or the jewelry you wore that day but if you have a photo to look back on you will always be able to remember.

Who says you can’t wear red on your wedding day? For Diana, a red wedding dress was the perfect fit for her. I love how it contrasted with the foggy coastal vibes and those gold shoes are perfection!

Moody and dramatic, just how we like it! All this rain definitely has us gravitating to moody and dramatic vibes right now or it could be the fact that we are working on a bunch of fall wedding color palettes with similar feels. We love how a deep jewel tone color palette can feel dramatic and elevated but if you pair it with a natural setting it can also feel organic and a bit lighter. Whereas if you pair that color palette with a darker interior wedding venue you get something more dramatic like this one.

Back at it this week after an amazing and relaxing Christmas and new year’s! I can’t believe we have our first wedding in just under three months.
