Throughout the year, CDP stages three community based dance performances and offers cost effective learning opportunities through integrated technique classes, community summer workshops, and adaptive dance classes for people with disabilities and special needs. Dancers and non-dancers of all ages and abilities explore movement within their own unique body structure, exercise their creative spirit

through movement composition and choreography, and reach outside their comfort zones by working with others in an environment of partnership, mentorship, and collaboration. Shira Greenberg’s Nutcracker on the Rocks November 29 & 30

“The Party”
Marie, her mom and the hired help are preparing for their annual holiday party. The guests arrive and the party begins. 🎁The mean lady from across town has found out about the gathering and crashes the party. 😫 That is soon forgotten when the handsome new fella in town arrives. 🙋‍♂️The party is in full swing when the magical Madam Drosselmeier, who is known for her fabulous gifts and is always the life of the party arrives bearing gifts for all the children. 🪩✨ This year, she has created a special gift for Marie- a Nutcracker Doll with an extra kiss of magic. Eventually, the party winds down. After the guests finally leave and Marie is sent to bed, she sneaks back into the living room to be with her Nutcracker and falls asleep with the doll in her arms. Enter Drosselmeier, who in her love for Marie, sends her on a special journey in the form of a dream. She kisses her with magic to send her on her way…and the dream begins.💋🪄✨

This electrifying twist on the holiday classic features legendary hits by Janis Joplin, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and more. Showcasing an energetic fusion of dancers and dance styles—plus a roaring Harley Davidson on stage—this rock-n-roll production has become one of Helena’s most beloved holiday traditions. Guest artists join a dynamic cast of community and professional dancers of all ages and abilities in this thrilling journey through the decades.
