Long-Eared Owl vs Short-Eared Owl 🦉

Short-eared owls are usually lighter color, have very small or almost no visible ear tufts, which makes their heads look more round and smooth.

Long-eared owls, on the other hand are darker, have prominent ear tufts that stick up from the top of their heads, giving them a distinctive appearance.

Despite being called "ear" tufts, these tufts are not actually ears. They are just feathers that help with camouflage and communication.

Looking back on 2024, I am filled with gratitude for an incredible year of growth as a wildlife photographer. Being my first year behind the camera, I dedicated myself to mastering my equipment and understanding the habitats of various animals. These experiences have deepened my passion for wildlife photography, making me feel more connected to nature than ever before. As we transition into 2025, I am optimistic and excited about the adventures to come. I look forward to continuing my journey, learning more, and capturing the beauty of the natural world.
