Mark your calendars for Larry & Joe, a duo with an origin story like no other:

Larry Bellorín is a legend of Llanera music hailing from Venezuela. Joe Troop, of Che Apalache fame, is a GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass and oldtime musician from North Carolina.

Larry was forced into exile and is an asylum seeker in North Carolina. Joe, after a decade in South America, got stranded back in his stomping grounds when his band was forced to go on hiatus during the pandemic. Larry worked construction to make ends meet. Joe shifted into action working with asylum seeking migrants.

Then Larry met Joe.

Now, for one incredible night, the duo comes to Helena to perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass, and whatever else they decide to throw in the van.

Their show features a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements coalesce.

The Myrna Loy is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award.

This grant will support many of the amazing artists coming to our stage in 2025, playing a critical role in bringing our mission to life. We're grateful for a government that recognizes the importance of the arts and supports their continued contribution to the vitality and well-being of our communities. The NEA will award 1,127 Grants for Arts Projects awards nationwide totaling more than $31.8 million in 2025.
