Practice sessions are great for those new to FastCat wanting to give it a try before entering the official AKC runs! Your dog does NOT have to be registered with AKC to participate in the practice sessions.

Costumes encouraged and welcome for both humans and dogs! 👻

Agility Challenges:
Challenges will be timed. Winners of each challenge will receive a small prize and bragging rights 😆
💥Tunnelers- A sequence with tunnels only… lots of them! Tunnel mania!
💥Weaves- Start jump into 12 weave poles, into a curved tunnel and back!
💥 Speed Jumping- Sequence of jumps in a large loop!

Festivities begin at 7pm Friday 11/1!

October & November Agility Coursework Sessions!

These are great for getting practice in outside of your regular classes or for trial prep!

AKC sessions are open to all levels that are sequencing obstacles. In the regular AKC sessions we walk then run an Exc/Mas level Standard then Jumpers course. In the Fast Class we will have a Novice, Open & Exc/Mas level Fast Course setup and take two turns on it.

For the international style sessions, dogs should have an understanding of premier type skills (backsides, tough weave entrance/exits, etc) In these sessions, a course from the US Open Judge will be setup.

Kelsey Kirkpatrick Agility Seminars the first weekend of November!

Saturday 11/2 - 9am-12:30pm - Masters/International

Saturday 11/2 - 1:30-5pm - Novice/Open

Sunday 11/3 - 9am-12:30pm - Masters/International

Sunday 11/3 - 1:30-5pm - Novice/Open

$180 per session (max 6 participants). Audit spots $40 (unlimited auditors per session)

Master/International - Participants should be competing at an Excellent/Masters Level. We will be working on sequences that will incorporate premier and international skills

Novice/Open - Participants should be able to perform tunnels and jumps. We will be working on short sequences and breaking down the mechanics of handling.

About Kelsey:

Kelsey has been participating in agility for over 21 years. She teaches weekly classes as well as online students. She is a 5 time National Champion with 4 different dogs. 35 plus time regional champion with 4 different dogs. Kelsey is a 5 time world team member in the past 3 years. Kelsey has placed in the top four at the AKC Agility National Finals and the Us Open National Finals, and is a four time UKI Classic winner. Her students have made the AWC, EO and IFCS world teams multiple times.. If you have aspirations of qualifying for Nationals or competing at the World Team level, or simply improving your handling skills and training techniques, this seminar is for you!

Extra agility training opportunities at Top Dog via coursework sessions!

Next one will be AKC Agility coursework night with Shelby this Friday 9/20/24 from 7:00-9:00pm. Have lots of space available for this session. Courses will be Exc/Masters level, but it’s open to all levels!

Coursework sessions are run-through style training. Each team gets two runs per course. Timed at 2-3 min per turn. Timers and speakers will be set up, and we will follow a running order to further mimic the trial setting.

Great opportunity for some extra training or exposing your dog to different dogs & people outside their regular classes. For Top Dog students, these sessions can be used as a makeup class if you have missed.

The Hill Country Agility Club had its first club party on Sunday afternoon! We had a Halloween costume contest, potluck and fun agility contests with prizes. I think it’s safe to say fun was had by all who attended! Huge thank you to Mechelle, Margo, Shannon, and all the other club members who helped plan and setup this awesome club party! Fast, Faster, Fastest! Magnum the Greyhound ran a blazing 6.65 seconds on the new track...a personal best! We had a great crowd today at our first Fast CAT practice session...in near perfect weather. Many thanks to Pete and Connie Hinton, and Diane Swanson and Super Dave Dean for working so hard! More practice sessions coming soon...(This isn't Magnum...but he wants to be!)

We had so much fun running some USDAA at home courses on this dreary, rainy Saturday. Here's Patty running her first starters run.

Our Dream

Training dogs and competing in events has always been a passion of ours. Rene began her dog training journey at age 15 by competing in AKC Obedience with her Irish Setter. This eventually lead to her discovering how awesome and fun Agility is. She dabbled in AKC Conformation events and even bred several litters of English Cocker Spaniels, but Agility became her passion. I followed suit as soon as I was able and began competing in Agility at age 5. Over the years we’ve traveled the state and even country, following our passion and competing with our dogs. We’ve achieved many goals and continue striving to achieve more. One goal we have always dreamed of achieving is to create an indoor facility capable of hosting agility trials in the San Antonio area. Well, we are finally making that dream come true by creating Top Dog Training Center. Rene and her husband, Jerald located and secured a property with a facility that we are currently developing to host both training and trialing events. The facility is nestled in the hill country in Helotes, TX and has beautiful views. It’s secured behind not one but two gates and will be equipped with quality turf and A/C. We are very excited about this venture and hope to provide a top of the line facility for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned for more exciting news!
