Those attending the Rooftop Polka Party will also be paying homage to Myron Floren who played just 100 feet from our rooftop. Born in (relatively) nearby Roslyn SD, Myron got his start playing the ballrooms and venues that once dotted our area. Myron played the dance hall above Gatsby's Steakhouse which is upstairs. The dance hall was shut down due to safety concerns stemming from everyone the force of large crowds dancing in unison.

Though we encourage you to listen to any of Myron's critically acclaimed pieces, we're including a link to his 'Beer Barrel Polka' from his Disco album. We include this solely to note how a genre of music, in this case polka, constantly evolves. Having a Rooftop Polka Party may be part of that evolution.

Other accordionists and polka bands playing this Hendricks venue include Lawrence Welk, Six Fat Dutchmen and Whoopee John Wilfahrt. We'll highlight those in days to come.

When you attend the Rooftop Polka Party, you'll be paying homage to the fascinating history of rooftop concerts.

On January 30th of 1969, the Beatles performed their final concert. It was an impromptu moment from the rooftop of their headquarters in central London. According to music historian James Perone, the concert has equal status with the Woodstock, Monterey Pop, Woodstock and Altamont festivals.

The Rooftop Polka Party takes place in Hendricks MN the evening of August 18th, 2023.

When you attend the Rooftop Polka Party, you'll be paying homage to the fascinating history of rooftop concerts.

Arguably U2's most legendary concert, the band debuted THE JOSHUA TREE album on the rooftop of a liquor store in downtown Los Angeles on March 27th, 1987. The album sold over 25,000,000 copies which was their highest selling album. The concert further ascended the band into the stratosphere of rock legends.

The Rooftop Polka Party takes place in Hendricks MN the evening of August 18th, 2023.

It's the eclectic music fest people will talk about for years. Make plans to attend the 'Rooftop Polka Party' in Hendricks MN on Friday, Aug 18th. It's 100% free but donations are accepted.

Enjoy an all-embracing mix of Johnny Cash, Guns N Roses, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, The Beatles, Hank Williams, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmy Buffett, Ozzy Osbourne, Ella FItzgerald, Cheap Trick, Buck Owens, Olivia Newton John, Bob Seger, Anne Murray, Disney, Elvis, Box Car Willie, Connie Francis, John Denver, Brooks & Dunn, Duke Ellington and a healthy dose of polka. The music begins at 6:00 PM. Headliners Mollie B, Ted Lange and their Squeezebox band take the roof at 7:30 PM.

In case of weather, the event will be held in the Hendricks (MN) School Gym.

In August of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Mollie B and Ted Lange made their first visit to Hendricks for a 'Pontoon Polka Party'. The weather behaved perfectly. The event was so revered, people have waited for the day the two return with their Squeezebox polka band.
