It is with MUCH sadness that we put to rest our beloved dog Dreamer #2 today!!!🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

We had so many amazing memories over the past 14 years with our beloved Fiest - Dreamer #2

He came to us through a deliberate selection process… in that, he had to look just like our previous dog called Dreamer with the distinctive white spots on his feet and face.

After the sudden death of our original Dreamer (also a fiest), Loren was so heartbroken that he decided he had to have another dog that looked just like him.. Loren searched for months!! Eventually, after much research and exchanging of photos, our search for a successor to Dreamer #1 was located in (deep south) Kentucky.. there a breeder told us his 4 week old pups looked just like Dreamer #1. So we packed up the car and headed there as quickly as we could. Upon arrival, at what appeared to be a puppy mill, we met the litter of dreamer lookalikes. We felt sad to see the conditions there, and since we couldn’t pick one from the litter of 4 four week old look Dreamer lookalikes, as we always do when we cant decide, we took all four black pups - plus one (female pup we called Sandy) who followed us around during the visit. We kept all 5 pups for awhile before settling on one which was crowned Dreamer #2. Never mind that the chosen successor outweighed the original Dreamer by 15 lbs at 6 months.

Loren sure knows how to pick his four legged companion. Dreamer #2 was the perfect companion to Loren… He went almost everywhere Loren went…..

Well, turned out he was my dog too…. I distinctly recall when a tornado hit Waynesboro in the wee Hours of the morning a couple years ago… Dreamer was the one who alerted me (yes me) to wake up because something was very wrong… he came to my side of the bed and kept scratching my arm to wake me up ….and would not stop until I got out of bed… realizing that he was trying to tell me that something was wrong, I immediately checked the weather. Turns out, there was a terrible storm and it spun a tournado which touched down just 11 miles south of our home….in Waynesboro….Dreamer was our only warning to take shelter on the ground floor.

Sadly, three years ago Dreamer #2 was diagnosed with an enlarged liver and early stage kidney failure… Dr. Gradous (his vet) told us that the only way to keep him from declining too quickly was to give him a very expensive (Hills KD) food. Well, lucky for us that advice extended his life and bought him 3 more precious years…worth every penny!!

But, today came too soon…. We are so very very sad to say goodbye to Dreamer #2 today…. On the bright side, you are no longer in pain… until we see you again.. au revoir our sweet Dreamer!!
