Air from another life and time and place,
Pale blue heavenly air is supporting
A white wing beating high against the breeze,

And yes, it is a kite! As when one afternoon
All of us there trooped out
Among the briar hedges and stripped thorn,

I take my stand again, halt opposite
Anahorish Hill to scan the blue,
Back in that field to launch our long-tailed comet.

And now it hovers, tugs, veers, dives askew,
Lifts itself, goes with the wind until
It rises to loud cheers from us below.

Rises, and my hand is like a spindle
Unspooling, the kite a thin-stemmed flower
Climbing and carrying, carrying farther, higher

The longing in the breast and planted feet
And gazing face and heart of the kite flier
Until string breaks and—separate, elate—

The kite takes off, itself alone, a windfall.

❄️❄️EXTREME COLD WEATHER ADVISORY❄️❄️:
Ulster County and the surrounding areas are expecting Extreme Cold conditions tonight into Sunday morning.

The combination of frigid temperatures and gusty winds will create dangerously cold conditions, and exposure to this cold can result in hypothermia and frostbite (Frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes). Conditions will improve Sunday afternoon as the winds decrease and temperatures rise, although Sunday night will be another very cold night with lows near or below zero in many areas.

Lowest Expected Temperatures and Wind Chill Values: Tonight into Sunday Morning

As a reminder, our Warming Center/Shelter is on a 24/7 schedule.
❄️ The Warming Center at 2nda Iglesia La Mision Church (80 Elmendorf St, Kingston,) is operating on a 24/7 schedule.
🌙 Evening Hours: 7 PM – 9 AM
🌞 Daytime Hours: 9 AM – 7 PM
