Don't you love how friends and family have no problem speaking their mind, even when you don't ask?

My neighbor was notorious for that. Always asking why I'm outside filming even when I don't have a client.

“Who asked YOU?”…was my first thought, followed by, "You should try it and see how easy it is!"

Now, if she had said something like that even 5 years ago, I would have held on to your comments for a looong time, probably tossed and turned at night questioning my self-worth and whether I was really any good at videography.

But I’m more confident today. And I've learned to take these kinds of comments in stride and not let them bother me too much.

Should I just sit back and wait for a client before pulling my cameras out? I'm sure it won't hurt! So I'll try it.

But I don’t take criticism as a personal attack anymore. When people give unsolicited advice like that, I know that’s their issue, not mine.

I'm able to look at it objectively to see if there's anything I want to change and act accordingly. Woo!

One of the easiest ways to create a habit and stick to it is by getting SUPER SPECIFIC with what you're doing, when you're doing it, and where you're going to do it.

Here are 3 ways to stay on track this month:

1- Brainstorm and map out your project (Specifically what you need)

2- Put a plan in motion to get it started (Get other people involved)

3- EXECUTE!

"How can I get into Acting & Modeling?"

I get asked this A LOT!

And it’s a great question, so today I’m going to cover as much as possible and show you the exact way I approach Acting & Modeling 👇

✨ First you need to gain a portfolio showcasing your looks. Part of getting your professional book together is working with different photographers. As you are building your brand you are learning the basic skills to pose, audition, and hit the ground running.

✨ Educate yourself on your niche. Not all actors are interested in the same genre. The same goes for Models. Find your craft and go for it with everything you have.

Talking to potential clients in person: Why I don’t just rely on social media to gain clients. 🙌

There’s a rhyme or reason for everything, right? Some things just work and some things simply don’t.

Since implementing talking in person, I was shocked at how much relying solely on social media for my marketing efforts could affect my business. ☝ Most people are not aware of how they look or are even interested in photography until you show them.

Here are the red flags I discovered:

🚩Red flag #1 - No likes on a post. Most posts go unnoticed. Everybody does'nt spend all their time on social media so sometimes they don't see it until the promotion is over. So, I’m making a conscious effort to talk to anyone I see watching me with my camera.

🚩Red flag #2 - Everyone is always looking for the discounts on your pricing. If you are not approaching the situation with a discount in mind, you are enhancing your chances of succeeding with booking the client. No one will support you if you don't support you.
🚩Red flag #3 - Mini sessions! No more mini sessions. A mini session is the same professional service for a lesser time and less money. Imagine having a full calendar doing what you do all day but for less money you are worth. Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself.

What if I told you that I don’t see myself as an expert in Photography? Or, at least I didn’t until people started treating me like one. (Who, me?)

Honestly, I never tried to be an “expert”, just a really good problem solver. And because I love to learn everything I can about captured moments, it just so happens that I’ve become pretty good at helping people achieve the outcome they most want.

The first time I realized that was when I got a call from a real estate agent complimenting me on the angles and how that was all the buyer talked about.
