The story of the Mars Hill lawyer and his representing moonshiners during Prohibition can be found here at this Radford link. He wrote the song following the acquittal of his client supposedly after convincing the judge to sample the client’s Good Old Evidence (moonshine). This is another great Carolina story brought back to life thanks to the repurposing of the Wake County 1840 Holleman farm store- now GatherStation agritourism wedding and music venue. The Ballad commissioned to celebrate the three lives of the 1840 Holleman store from New Hill to Chapel Hill and now back to New Hill as GatherStation can be found here www.youtube.com/shorts/ATNQ5cl7CC0.

They have a gorgeous restored horse stables filled with round and picnic tables and a great bandstand for highlighting your music or guests of honor!

There is also a beautiful refurbish Barn with air-conditionditiing and a full service kitchen that has been restored to hold approximately 70 guests comfortably for any type of event. Take a look at the beautiful rocking chair porch that has huge heaters so you can even hang out there and stay warm! The facilities hold an Unlimited number of guests outdoors!
