We are so thrilled to have been included in Destination I Do’s round up of the most underrated islands for a destination wedding. When I submitted my thoughts, that were quoted in the article, I also sent in a collection of photos highlighting why the Big Island is so special - both in Hawaii and in the world.

First, it is the BIG island, which means there are so many options for wedding venues and areas to stay. And that variety means there is something for everyone - volcanos, rainforests, mountains, waterfalls, and of course beaches - the Big Island has black, white, and green sand beaches! The Big Island is one of the most unique and ecologically diverse places on the planet and is home to 8 (out of a possible 13) climate zones.

If you are getting married on the Big Island and want to have some of these stunning locations for your wedding photos, we highly recommend an adventure session a day or two after your wedding. We can arrange for your hair and makeup to be done a second time, and you can even go in the ocean with your wedding attire, because the wedding is over and you might as well get the great photos! It also allows you to spend more time present with your guests on your wedding day because we do not have to fit in so many couples photos at the wedding itself.

We are so honored to be recognized as a Hawaii Green Business by the Hawaii State Energy Office! Sunshower Weddings is the only event planning company in the state certified as a Green Business - this year or ever!

While we usually plan *and* coordinate all of our weddings, Annie and Nem were clients who just needed planning help! Their wedding was small and their venues, particularly .gardens is turn key! The Heartbeet team is so great and they had it covered! So even though we planned this wedding, it wasn’t until we got the photos from , that I knew how it had turned out! 😍

Our team is expanding! We are hiring another lead event planner to join Me, Cami and Alison.

This can be a full time or part time job - for the right fit we will structure it however works for you. Compensation is dependent on how many weddings you take and when treated like a full time job, it is a full time wage. 

Requirements: 
- Lives on the Big Island with intention to stay for years in the future
- Ability to schedule their off-time a year in advance
- Strong proficiency with administrative work 
- People person 
- Firm but kind leader
- Values match for Sunshower Weddings
- Drivers license 

While we love weddings, experience in the wedding industry is not a requirement! A career as a wedding planner is about a lot more than wedding experience though. We will train the right person - Cami, Alison and I all never worked in weddings until we did. The best fits for wedding planning are a type of person, more than a list of qualifications. Some of the best planners I know were previously camp counselors, teachers, front-of-house service staff, political organizers, SAHMs, women in sorority leadership etc. We will train you!

Great graphic design, that is cohesive and utilized throughout an event, is an amazing way to elevate and communicate a theme and color story.

Tori and Tucker’s wedding is a perfect example of cohesive graphic design running through the whole event! Every sign, napkin, place card and invite was on theme. It was not a surprise — Tori and Tucker both work in advertising and Tucker is an art director — but when it all came together we were still blown away.

I cannot get over this wedding and how perfect it was. Forest and Kenyon, I hope you know how fabulous you are - we feel so privileged to have been able to create this day with you!

As 2023 comes to a close today, we are reflecting on a year of 44 amazing weddings! We are so grateful to have been a part of your love stories. Here’s to the couples and vendors who made our 2023 extraordinary! 💖 Looking forward to 2024!
