Beyond Arita-yaki. That is their motto. This Arita-yaki pottery was founded in 1953. The factory, located on a small hill overlooking the countryside, has the only “tunnel kiln” in Arita-yaki, and has produced long-selling products such as “Hotarude” (Firefly’s lights), “Tebineri” (Hand-twisted), and “Platinum Peony”, which have remained in the 400-year history of Arita-yaki. They will pass on these techniques to the next generation and continue to make “particular” pottery that makes our daily life of quality. At Hanatabi, we carry their ceramic mimic fabric series. The comfort of having a cheekful of the finest flax (linen).
The texture of washed linen fluttering in the wind is captured on the vessels. This is a modern evolution of tebineri, a traditional technique handed down in the Bunzan kiln in Arita, Saga Prefecture.
The “ceramic mimic fabric,” which means “porcelain that imitates fabric,” was born over the 400-year history of Arita-yaki porcelain.
This delicate pattern on the white ceramic creates a textured look like real fabric, making this vase very unique and exceptionally beautiful.
