We are halfway through this powerful exhibit and gearing up for our Final Friday Closing Night Reception on September 29, 5-8pm. We are so grateful for our First Responders who were able to participate this year, and know that many of you were called to do what you do. You always put yourselves last to respond first, and we just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for all that you do. You are in our hearts. Always.

As a reminder, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the artwork, along with merchandise from our gift shop will be donated to organizations serving the Maui community. We all need to kokua our brothers and sisters during this time, so please do your research and support organizations who truly want to help our friends and family through this very tough time. And please take the time to thank a First Responder for choosing to be our heroes when we need it most.

CALL TO ARTISTS! We were so humbled by the individuals who participated in this event last year, and we were so moved by their stories of heroism and sacrifice. The art they created to cope, to celebrate, to heal, and to keep going left us laughing, crying, and appreciating life just a little bit more. They touched our hearts. And it is from the bottom of our hearts that we want to invite back our First Responders and say THANK YOU for your service and all that you do!

If, at the end of the day, we can touch the life of one young artist by connecting them with another, we are doing exactly what we should be doing. Our gallery was brightened today and our hearts warmed by this lovely young man who wanted nothing more than to meet and share his art with Sam Campos, the godfather of Hawaiian comics and the curator of our PINEAPPLE MAN AND FRIENDS exhibit. With a phenomenally supportive family in tow, we are proud to welcome this young artist to the ohama at The ARTS at Marks Garage... and we have no doubt that he will be gracing our walls in the future!

Thank you, Christian, for the gift of your amazing scratch art also! It will be treasured always!
