You've spent $Thousands$ on your wedding florals and they're STUNNING 🌺 but what do you do with all those florals after the wedding?

Have you considered donating them? 🤷‍♀️

At Best Day Ever we donate any left over florals to local nursing homes and children's hospitals around O'ahu- we send our couples photos of who received the beautiful arrangements afterwards, so that they see first hand who gets to enjoy their donation.

Having done this for nearly a decade, I've been lucky enough to see just what a difference this little effort makes. I've personally delivered hundreds of floral arrangements to seniors and have watched their faces light up as we walk in the door and my little boys run to them arms filled with humungous flower arrangements.

It's literally the best thing ever 🥰

And it takes like 30 minutes.

So, if you've got a wedding, and don't know what to do with your altar florals, centerpiece florals, bouquets, and more - consider donating them. Most nursing homes would LOVE a donation. The hugs, smiles and squeezes you get for this little act of kindness, is totally worth it 💯

🌸 Add in a Flower Shower 🌸

Here's how much it'll cost: about $30-$50 / a bag of petals (you probably only need one, but add in two for a "more full" flower shower). You can get these petals from your florist, and specify if you want "all white", "all red" or "a mix of bright colors".

Have your planner pass the rose petals out in handfuls to guests right after you say "I do" and before you walk down the aisle. Make sure your planner tells guests to throw the petals "UP" and not "at" you 😝

Then make your exit, get some AMAZING photos, soak in this special moment and ENJOY!

Hi, it's Nicole 👋

Been a hot minute since I've introduced myself so I thought I'd do a quick "hello" before the year is over.

About me: I love surfing on Monday mornings with the other old people who hate crowds 🏄🏾‍♀️ and Christmas - I LOVEEEE christmas, anyone else?! 🎄 I make it my mission to buy the biggest Christmas tree I can find as soon as they land in Hawaii, one year we got a 10 ft tree that weighed like 100 lbs, my husband rolls his eyes at me but it was totally worth it and amazing!

And yes - Weddings, design and creating beautiful spaces and experiences have also always been my JAM. Also,

We're a small (very hands-on) planning company in Hawai'i that offers all-inclusive, intimate, & fully customizable wedding ceremony packages.

We used to do large 400+ weddings and although those were fun, our sweet spot has always been with smaller more intimate weddings. So, we shifted and now work exclusively couples who have a smaller guest list (50 or less) and who wanted a more intimate wedding planning experience 🥰 - one which feels easy and fun, without zero pressure, stress or overwhelm.

Wanna know a little wedding day secret 🤔

Perfect wedding days are pre-designed to perfection with killer wedding teams.

You want your wedding day to go off without a hitch, get a real wedding photographer (not your friends cousin who does photography as a hobby), a professional florist, a professional officiant, and a most importantly, get a professional wedding planner.

Your wedding team is not only going to be there to do their designated jobs (aka, whatever you hired them for), they're going to know exactly what to do if something goes wrong because chances are they've seen it happen before and they'll have a plan they can execute in a moments notice 👉🏽 THIS is how perfect weddings happen.

Examples:

- Rain storm coming, no problem ☔️ (we have back up spots, umbrellas in tow, a rain-app to time out the ceremony, waterproof equipment or coverings).

- Random tourists walking towards your ceremony right when your about to say "I do" 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😫 ... It happens, and we have people in place to stop them and make them go around so they are not behind you ruining your wedding moment.

- Guests can't find parking and are late to your beach ceremony 🚗 not at our weddings. 😉 We scope out the parking situation ahead of time, make sure you are aware of it and let you know exactly what time to leave your hotel, what time you will arrive and EXACTLY where to go. We are there to meet you at drop off and walk you to the exact spot (while holding your dress up and fixing your hair).

5 Tips for Children in a Wedding Party 💖

👉🏼 1. Comfy clothing. Toddler and younger children, need to feel comfortable to be happy. Happy kids make everything easier. Cute but comfortable clothes are KEY.

👉🏼 2. Don't use your real rings on the ring pillow. We NEVER use real rings in ring boxes or or tie them to a ring pillow because if the pillow or box drops and the rings fall out it can be a major disaster. Have the photographer get photos of the rings in the box (or on the pretty ring pillow) then take them off and hold them somewhere for safe-keeping with a reliable adult to ensure they don't get lost.

👉🏼 3. Go with the flow. If a flower girl or ring bearer does not want to walk down the aisle, don't be crushed. They're kids, they don't always feel like doing their jobs. Have a parent ready to guide them or walk with them holding their hand. It's not a big deal and doesn't have to ruin your entrance. Kids will do what kids do, be prepared and go with the flow.

👉🏼 4. Don't give the flower girl the basket until right before she walks down the aisle. You don't want the basket getting lost before the big moment. The less any kids need to worry about, the better. We find it easiest to pass the ring pillow and flower basket out minutes before the kids walk down the aisle.

👉🏼 5. Pin boutonnieres and tie on haku leis (little girls head leis) on right before they walk down the aisle. I can't tell you how many times I've seen kids pull these things off. They're not comfortable and can feel itchy or out of place. If you want a boutonniere on nicely or a haku lei on a 5 year old, make sure you put it on as close to the start of the bridal party entrance as you can.

Having worked with hundreds of kids in weddings, we make sure any younger children in our wedding party line up have literally zero responsibilities 😉 We don't give them anything until right before the walk down the aisle, and we keep things as simple, easy and fun as possible.

I think sometimes new brides and grooms think that a simple elopement wedding is easy.

Hawaii Wedding Ideas 101

Have you considered adding in a coconut toast to your wedding? 🥥

It's a really fun and unique way to treat your guests after the ceremony and it isn't too big of an added cost. We've been suggesting coconut toasts to our beach brides and everyone who's added it in has been thrilled.

Here's how it works - have your planner connect you with a local coconut vendor. Let them know your final guest count, then decide if you want the coconuts cut fresh on site (in front of guests) or cut early and ready to drink straight after the ceremony. Do a fun coconut toast with your guests and get some fun photos 🥥 📸 Let guests enjoy the fresh juice and have the coconuts cut open when they are done so that they can taste the inside of the coconut fruit too!

If you're looking for something totally different and really fun (and that doesn't break the bank) this is a wonderful idea and option to consider!

3 Common Misconceptions about Hawaii Beach Weddings

🤔 (1) You can get married at any beach.

- It's a bit more complicated then just picking a pretty one off the internet and find it on google maps. Only certain public beaches allow weddings, you need a special permit (and a hefty insurance plan), and not all of the beaches that allow weddings are good ones.

🤔 (2) You can invite as may people as you want to your beach wedding.

- Not if its at a public beach. Hawaii state permitting laws allow for 25 guests max. Private oceanfront venues should be considered if you have more than 25 guests.

🤔 (3) You can have chairs and a flower arch at your beach wedding.

- No chairs or arches are allowed at public beaches. Any photos that you see of these setups online are either at a private beach - or illegal. You can however have chairs and a flower arch at a private oceanfront venue.

There are lots of rules and regulations that I won't go into detail here and understanding them is essential if you want to have a beach wedding in Hawaii.

A Simple Tip for the Bride to Be...

✅ Prioritize keeping things Easy and Simple, as much and as often as possible.

Things are gonna feel crazy, but you don't have to handle it all on your own. Sometimes doing it all yourself to save money isn't worth the cost.
Choose EASY as often as possible so you get to enjoy as much as possible.

Easy could mean ...

💫 Cutting down the guest list so that you have only the people who matter the most to you in attendance and the wedding you actually want / And then live streaming it for everyone else.

💫 Skipping the favors and welcome bags, because, well - nobody really misses that stuff anyway, and trusting that your guests really just want to be there for YOU not for the stuff.

💫 Getting a personal planner early to help you figure out all of your wedding details from flowers and photography to transportation and music, so that you don't have to spend weeks or months figuring it all on your own, feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.

Lots of couples feel stressed out - but you don't have to be 😉

Celebrating 13 years of marriage today 💖
11.11.11 - feels like just yesterday and yet here we are 3 boys and a puppy later...

First pic was taken in Kalalau valley, a 22 mile hike in and out on Kauai that we used to do a few times a year, carrying all our gear and food in and out (when our bodies were young and could handle that kind of crazy) ⛺ feels like a lifetime ago now.

Still feeling lucky, to have found my person, soulmate, best friend. Emails will be hold for a day or two, we're off celebrating ~
