The Ultimate Angolan Cultural Experience in the Diaspora

As an organization we strive to achieve our goals of serving our community at large and representing Angolan culture for all of its beauty. This includes curating a 3-day family friendly KIZOMBA event for all to enjoy. On behalf of everyone at , we would like to thank everyone for making Balumuka Fest 2023 such a memorable event.

DJs Naty, Guelas, Galo, Óscar, Kexy, Karga, Aly, Afro Deshiac, Josman, Daniel you made the event unique with your skills and unique vibe. You all created an atmosphere filled with the best music that kept our souls full and us dancing throughout the weekend.

Instructors, you were the heart of the event. Thank you Eliza, Lucia, Tania, Horacio & Kimberly, Mr. Angola, Tonino & Júlia and Adilson Maíza for sharing your talents and knowledge with those who were eager to learn. It goes without saying that each of you had a lasting impact on our attendees.

During the highlight of Balumuka Fest, Gala Night, hosts Pedro Quissanga, Kassie Hamilton & Áureo Gonçalves guided our stunning guests and attendees through a magical evening. It was filled with a dinner, fashion show, special recognitions and musical performances by some of the best artists in the industry.

Designers Zilda Vicente and Judite Vicente showcased their phenomenal collections during the Gala night’s fashion show. Elegant and handsome models graced the runway while they were beautifully adorned by Zilda’s Himba shoes/ accessories and by Judite’s Ankara-chic clothing line. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

The recognition of MBKF, SAWA SAWA, DJ Oscar, DJ Naty, Kimberly Nicole, Horacio & Mestre Petchu for their contributions in and out of the dance scene was one of the focal moments of the event. All of their hard work and dedication to the Kizomba community are more than deserving of a standing ovation. Thank you again.

Special thank you to Ricardo Lemvo, Chelsy Shantel and Antuany Rafaspin for incredible performances and support. Special thank to Kyadaff for his amazing performance, world class personality and interaction with participants.

Although we faced some challenges, we are committed to improve and come back with the uniqueness and authenticity that Balumuka Fest aims to be and to provide. To our official sponsors (Fonte-ao & TexDock), volunteers, and those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes- thank you for being the backbone and playing pivotal role in the success of this 3rd Edition. Joseal is an enthusiastic and charismatic dancer and instructor who fell in love with kizomba 10 years ago. Since then he has dedicated himself to learning the culture, music and dance as well as different styles within this discipline. He has trained with international instructors and attended numerous congresses in the USA and abroad. He has worked very actively being part of congresses and weekenders all over the US. He has also taught internationally in Mexico, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia and Portugal. Joseal is also a promoter and organizer, having kizomba weekenders and mini congresses in Spain and in US with his DASH team project in Texas. He has also been a host of the kizomba room in various events and congresses (LA Salsa Congress, LA Grizzly Congress, Houston Salsa congress, Houston Sensual bachata congress…) He believes that kizomba is more than a dance, is a culture and a very profound and unique way to interact and build meaningful relationships with people.
