Event Details
When: Thursday, June 29, at 1pm
Where: Austin High School, 1700 Dumble Street, Houston, 77023
Parking: Please see diagram in comments for street and lot parking options
Entrance: Please use gate and entrance to Auditorium indicated on diagram in comments. Please do not use the main school entrance.

Concert Details:
More than 100 children entered our summer camp to learn the basics of music literacy, solfège, and vocal instruction. The culmination of 4 weeks of an intensive music camp, our Community Concert promises to be a highlight of community-based arts events for the entire East End District.

This concert, lasting approximately 45 minutes, will feature Spanish language music representing Latin America as well as bilingual pieces celebrating the multiculturalism of our members and their families. Our performers will include our young “Exploradores” ages 5-7, as well as our “Jovenes Cantantes” ages 8-13.

Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus’ first-of-its-kind summer camp is the only tuition-free summer enrichment camp targeting children from hispanic/latino and immigrant households. After completing this intensive music training camp, students can audition for our year-round “Jovenes Cantantes” performing ensemble, which last year performed at 20 community and city-wide events reaching more than 20,000 Houstonians.

We look forward to seeing you at our concert. We are expecting a total of at least 500 students, teachers, family members, community leaders, and elected officials in attendance.
