It started as a love affair like no other between Phil Long and his sweetheart Debra. That love was ignited with their love for wine which led him to become president of the Association of African American Vintners (AAAV). Together, they created inclusive wine experiences for all people of all backgrounds.

Debra lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in 2019. Phil personally designed the delicate heart logo on their bottles, then had it tattooed on his forearm before she died so that she will always be with him.

This delightful Blanc de Rosé exudes elegance and sophistication.

👃NOSE: bouquet of ripe strawberries, raspberries and black cherry, with floral notes of rose petals and subtle vanilla.

👅TASTE: Crisp and refreshing, with vibrant acidity that balances a hint of sweetness.

Fun fact: He was a Rugby player to his core. His parents told him he had to get a degree to continue and he got a degree in Oenology at Stellenbosch University. (Love this says this Rubgy mom 🥰)

👅Palate: Soft, juicy tannins which are well balanced with a lingering finish.

Today is International Merlot Day and I'm recommending an oldie but goodie! Meeker Merlot is big fruit forward, full bodied and with nice tannins. The bottle is a work of art (save for a candle holder later.)

👃Nose: Dark fruits like cherries, caramel and toffee

👅Palate: Same as what you smell with a toasty oak

My Journey

While vacationing in Europe, I casually noticed that everyone drank wine all day, every day. My limited exposure with wine at the time was sweet wines (Moscato). As I continued to travel that summer, my curiosity got the best of me and I experienced a European Wine Tasting . As the Sommelier began to educate me about the types of wines and their pairings, my palate expanded. Excited about this new experience, I became certified in Wine fundamentals I and II by The International Sommelier Guild.
