LAS CARAS LINDAS. exhibición de vinilos en la Sala de Proyecciones del Centro Universitario ! La muestra destaca el arte gráfico de carátulas de vinilos de salsa como representaciones de pueblos y culturas afroboricuas, caribeñas y diaspóricas. La exhibición cocurada por la Dra. Maria Elba Torres y Pablo Yglesias autor de “Cocinando: 50 Years of Latin Album Cover Art”, explora el impacto visual y social de álbumes de música latina durante cinco décadas de la mitad del siglo XX. Fue en este periodo que el LP de vinilo era un formato de entretenimiento dominante, el cual a través de la música y la estética gráfica podemos prestar atención crítica a asuntos de identidad, sentido de pertenencia, danza, ritmo, raíces africanas y la utilización de la creatividad para luchar contra la colonización, la marginación y la pobreza. Les invitamos a unirse a la charla de apertura.
