Dancer of the Month: Savion Glover

This month, we’re thrilled to honor the legendary Savion Glover, a true icon of tap dance! Known for his groundbreaking style, powerful rhythms, and remarkable precision, Savion is much more than a performer—he's also a choreographer, actor, and teacher. His passion for tap has inspired generations of dancers. From his early work on Broadway in Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk to his innovative contributions to modern tap, Savion has taken the art form to new heights.

Fun fact: Today, November 19, marks his birthday! Let’s celebrate the legacy of this tap master and keep his spirit of rhythm and creativity alive on the dance floor!

Katherine Dunham was a trailblazing cultural anthropologist who turned her passion for Afro-Caribbean studies into something remarkable—what we now recognize as Jazz Dance! By merging traditional African dance with contemporary techniques, she created the Dunham Technique, a style celebrated in dance schools around the globe.

Her influence extended even further; she established the first self-supported Black dance troupe in America and founded the Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts and Humanities. Her pioneering contributions continue to inspire dancers everywhere, and we’re thrilled to honor her as our Influential Dancer of the Month!
