HOUSTON, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Tejano legend Bobby Pulido gave ValleyCentral an exclusive interview after his Houston Texans Halftime performance.
On Jan. 8 the singer announced on his social media he would be singing in the halftime show.
“This is a dream come true, supporting my team on their playoff journey and bringing Tejano music to the field,” he said.
The Latin Grammy winner performed on Saturday at the NRG Stadium, where he sang a medley of his most popular songs, including “Desvelado.” He also paid homage to the late Vicente Fernandez by singing “El Rey” alongside a mariachi.

“You know it hadn’t hit me that they actually asked me to perform in a Halftime Show in Houston, Texas, in an American country singing all Spanish,” Pulido said.
He added that at first, he was not sure how the crowd would react to his music, but on the field, he could see Latinos and people from other cultures dancing and enjoying his music.
“[The audience was] really nice, and the people responded really well, and I could hear people singing my songs from the crowd, and that was pretty cool,” he stated.
Following his halftime performance, Pulido said he had multiple messages from friends and people from the industry congratulating him.
“I got more feedback from people that I know about singing at the halftime show at the Houston Texans game than when I won the Latin Grammy,” he said. “As crazy as that may sound, I got more buzz about it.”

He added that even after the performance, the magnitude of the event has not settled.
“I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was until people started texting me,” he chuckled.
The singer added that he is proud to be able to represent the Valley. He said this performance is a dream come true.
