BowiElvis Fest is an annual party thrown by Splice Records and Saint Arnold Brewing Company, which happens twice in two different cities, Austin and Houston.. The one night festival is our best attempt at honoring the shared birthdays of David Bowie and Elvis Presley, two of the most loved and influential artists of the previous century. The music is all night on two different stages featuring mul

tiple bands from the surrounding areas. We love showcasing local talent that want to honor the two icons by mixing their sets with covers of both artists along with their originals tunes. We have a “Oh You Pretty Things” costume/fashion contest, which encourages all to come out in their best costumes. We have themed games, themed food, Bowie Face painting and an appearance by Houston’s heralded burlesque troupe, the Dem Damn Dames. It is a wild night that we plan to do twice in two amazing cities. From “Guitar Man” to “Starman,” and all the golden years in between, each year’s event will be more fun than you can shake a hip at; it is expected to bring in close to 1,000 people as Texans dress to impress in their best Bowie Elvis garb and rejoice in the musical and cultural influences of these legendary artists.

“To be involved in an event that celebrates the shared birthdays of two rock and roll icons is an honor for me in so many ways,” stated Shaun Brennan, co-founder of Splice Records (alongside artist Craig Kinsey). “When you have great music, a setting like Continental Club, and you are working with the amazing people at Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company and our other support sponsors, the table is set for an amazing night. this year’s event was one of the best nights of my life and it got really weird, but in a fantastic way. As a label, we at Splice Records always look forward to the opportunity to be involved in something bigger than us; the spirit in the air will be unmatched.”
The brainchild of Pecos Hank Schyma, who commemorated Elvis’ birthday at Avante Garden each year, Bowie Elvis Fest officially started in 2010 with an inaugural event at the infamous local venue.
“What started as a tribute to Elvis has morphed into a really cool tradition here in Houston and I am so proud of how much BowiElvis Fest has grown,” stated Schyma. “The immensely talented acts that are slated to play honor these icons in their own unique way and the fans always show up in their best costumes to pay tribute to these musical geniuses. With Splice Records and Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company presenting each year’s festivities, the potential of Bowie Elvis Fest only multiplies as new audiences are reached.”

Tickets will be sold in advance. In the past the concert was held 24-48 hours prior to Bowie’s passing, so this year we will honor him with candle light, with love and with the humblest honor to his music. Come be a part of the magic year in and year out… We feel BowiElvis Fest is a must attend event and we hope to have all of our fans there with us partying in a time warp.

BowiElvis Fest is an annual party in its 10th year; thrown by Splice Records, which is happening twice in 2018, and in two different cities. On January 5th the Houston festival will be held at the legendary Continental Club & Big Top. And on January 12th in Austin, Texas we will throw another party at the Barracuda Austin. The festival is our best attempt at honoring the shared birthdays of David Bowie and Elvis Presley, two of the most loved and influential artists of the previous century.
