A Matter of Time

I have had quite a few clients ask me “What time should I put on my wedding invitation: the time I want my guest to arrive or the time the ceremony will start?” I tell them that just like any other invitation, a wedding invitation should state the start time for the ceremony. We don’t want to inconvenience guests who arrive on time by making them wait twenty or thirty minutes to accommodate late comers. Instead, let’s assign someone to handle late comers and start the procession at the time stated on the invitation. I always add that when me and my team have to stop people, they say “Oh they already started?” We smile and say “Yes ma’am/sir, we started on time!”

As a coordinator when I am conducting rehearsal for the ceremony everything is very intentional as this is considered a sacred time. We talk about how the wedding party enters, how and where they stand, etc. However, when it’s time for their introduction into the reception, this is the time to let loose and enjoy. I’m always in the back (as l am here) , ensuring everyone is lined up in order, advising them to go once there name is called and cheering them on to have a funky good time. 💜whatIdo
