Hi all! We’re still here, 2023 got a little wild in August from the tornado. We lost our giant tree in our back yard. Damaged two of our vehicles, and lots of garden damage. Then our oldest started kindergarten, soccer and stared in her first play. To say we’ve been busy is an understatement. We’re working on planing a fun 2024 and hope to focus more on having a community farm stand, helping prep neighbors gardens with tilling, and sharing some fun home projects we’re doing. 🫶🏻

Update #1
We (and by we I mean Jake) have been working hard at getting my office redone.

This used to be a bedroom with a built in bed and dresser. Before that we’re guessing it used to be one of the main entrances into the house due to us finding an old door frame.

Still to go, more drywall work, installing the new window and door trim, new base molding, installing a cabinet, making the built in desk, installing floating shelves, adding the new (old) pocket doors, updating electrical outlets, new light fixture AND finally painting it all.

I’ll try to post updates in our story as we continue to work on it.

Update #2
Our main floor bathroom is getting redone. When working on the office next door we found our house isn’t properly insulated. (130 year old house problems 🤪).

So we will be starting this project once the office is complete. Our goal is to remove the claw foot tub, add a walk in shower, redo the floors, new drywall, new vanity and add some storage.

We’re trying to make our own cranberry juice. Can’t wait to see how we did in 4-6 weeks when this is ready.

As this season has come to an end we thank everyone who supported us in year 2! Next year will be different as we will not be doing any spring flowers. We will be focusing on our summer flowers, our house projects, and our oldest will be starting kindergarten Fall of 2023.

We will be sharing our house projects we hope to start/finish this winter!

I remember when I learned how to ride horses my teacher said “if you can ride English you can ride anything” I guess the same applies for tractors. Jake gave me a little tutorial last night knowing he would be called into work in the morning. So never using clutch before or driving a tractor I can now add it to my resume. Pretty ok snow removal tractor operator over here 👍🏻😂 plowed 2 driveways and only stalled 3x.. bring on spring I’m ready to learn how to do more!

I haven’t posted an updated picture of the hens in a while. From left to right, we have blackberry, sleeping beauty and strawberry.

All named by Emma 😂 so far strawberry is a laying champ. Sleeping beauty is a loud mouth and blackberry just goes along with the flow.

Our Rooster started to get testy with the girls and everyone for that matter. So he is no longer. 😬 I’m also secretly scared to death of chickens we had a mean rooster growing up.. so learning to not be afraid of them anymore has been interesting 😂😂

On an exciting note our little farm is also growing with a new member arriving this Saturday ❤️❤️ stay tuned!!

I’m excited for time change now (not 6 am when my girls decided it was go time) but approaching the “earlier” bed time will be nice… to watch Yellowstone… 😉
