John Denver sang of taking him “home” to the country roads of West Virginia, and at last night’s WVU “home” basketball game against Iowa, people were able to take “home” a souvenir led wristband once I was done lighting them up. I was at the Coliseum on the campus of WVU lighting up the 14,000 led wristbands given to everyone in attendance.

Each work day you can find yourself in a changing “state of mind” and today is no different for me as I find myself in a “Penn State” of mind as I’m here to control the roughly 1200 led railing lights from using my Stadium Connect. Sure it’s all blue and white but who better to count on than the blue hardware from Chamsys.

On a warm summer night, sky full of stars, and a venue full of people dancing to the hits of Garth Brooks from the band No Fences - The Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience. Here is a post from them that just so happens to feature a little of my lighting for them, and also shows the power of ChamSys lighting consoles. Consider this a late Christmas gift but here you go. They say “If you love something let it go, if it was meant to be it will come back to you”, well without a doubt the majority of the world loves Elvis and sadly it’s been a long time we had to let him go, but if you didn’t realize he’s back. Without the need to use you imagination you can see, hear, and feel exactly what it must have been like to see “the King” in all his glory simply by visiting a venue that is hosting . This was not the first time I had the pleasure of working with this incredible band so I felt just as excited as the audience. All lighting controlled via my Stadium Connect. Some times the aches and pains of life make you feel old, but on January 4th every one in attendance of the E 5 C 4 P 3 - Escape - The Journey Tribute concert was feeling “Forever Young” as they danced, sang, and clapped along with their favorite hit songs of Journey. The band was giving Back to the Future vibes as they transported an entire audience back to their teenage years. This is as close as you can come to seeing the Top 40 lineup with the incredible vocals, over the top guitar solos, heart pounding drums, and a groove from the bass that will make you think an earthquake has started. What a fitting conclusion to an incredible year than to have had the opportunity to light a concert for the dynamic band Red Wanting Blue at House of Blues Cleveland. The performance was truly powerful and the venue provided an ideal setting to bid farewell to 2024 in style. Having had the pleasure of working alongside esteemed FOH engineer Shawn Shaulis only added to the significance of this event, which I will undoubtedly be reflecting on for a long time to come.

A throw back to 2022 when I was hired to be the LD for a concert with Samantha Fish Devon Allman and Luther Dickinson. There was more powerful talent on that stage than the Hoover Dam could sustain. All controlled via the amazing ChamSys lighting console.

Some workdays start earlier than others. When you get hired to work with the Pittsburgh Penguins and light some player promo videos, those days can start at 3:30am. It was a really fun day working with the team and lighting each player, a little cold being directly on the ice for 8 hours but that's what hats and gloves are for lol. Many thanks to Hughie's AV for trusting me with this project, the entire Penguins media team for making it such a fun day, and ChamSys for creating a rock solid lighting control product that makes an LD's job even easier.

This past Sunday was a true milestone in my career when I had the opportunity to light in concert. I can’t say enough positive things about Steve and the entire band, working with them was an incredible experience. This is a band that brings all the arena talent and energy you can handle, and then some.
