Individual District Speech day!

These 6 did a great job representing our speech department today in Janesville! There were 7 events performed from these six, one of them got a Division 2 rating and 6 of them got Division 1 ratings to go on to state!!

Here’s how the day shook out:

Division 1:

Congrats to the Jazz Choir on a wonderful performance yesterday at the Coe Jazz Summit! They performed at 9:00am in the Sinclair auditorium and then got to have a clinic with a professional jazz vocalist!!

At the end of it all Brinkley Simmer was recognized with an Outstanding Vocalist Award for her solo in “Unforgettable”!

Tonight we found out some extremely exciting news! Our Large Group Musical Theater team that performed “Sweeney Todd” made Allstate speech!! Not only did they receive the Allstate honor, but they will be a PERFORMING group at the Allstate festival!

On Feb. 22nd at 11:20am they will perform in the Ames City Auditorium and would LOVE to have some community support!

Congratulations to these very fine musicians and actors/actresses! ☺️

Tonight the Jazz Choir performed at Iowa-Falls Alden for the IHSMA jazz choir festival. They performed well, but came away with a Division 2 “Excellent” rating with two 2 ratings and one 1 rating. We are excited to use the feedback that we got to continue growing our vocal Jazz program!

These students did such a wonderful job representing Hudson at State Speech today!! State has 3 judges who all give you scores of a 1, 2, or 3 that then equal out to a composite score.

5 out of our 6 groups today received what we call “straight 1’s” from their judges!

Division 1:
Readers Theater (Three 1’s)
Musical Theater (Three 1’s)
Radio Broadcasting (Three 1’s)
Short Film- Cast Iron (Three 1’s)
Short Film- Dog (Three 1’s)

Division 2:
Group Improv (Two 2’s and a 1 for an overall 2)

Today is Meistersinger Honor Choir at Wartburg college!

Caitlyn Poppe, Maya Hoppes, Rob Watson, Preston Olson, Brinkley Simmer, and Jaelynn Mentel got to see or fall semester student teacher Mr. Schindler!!!
