Color was a theme of 2024, and I'm hoping it stays forever💝

So many beautiful flowers in such happy colors for Taylor and Ian! Lots of zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, lisianthus, and ageratum in these designs, all grown on my farm.

As local flowers become more important (due to possible tariff increases), having a more varied and open color palette helps with sourcing for your design so much. The more we can source local, the better...for the planet, for our health, and for your bottom line.

Local flowers are going to be needed more than EVER this season🤍

Prepping for extreme cold is no joke.

We just have one coop of chickens and some dahlias under cover. Sending lots of hope to all those with farm animals. It will be a challenge!

I would have LOVED for this cold snap to have happened on winter number 1 of overwintering dahlias in the ground and not winter number 3, but such is life! 20k worth of tubers may or may not freeze to death, but it is what it is, and we will see how hardy overwintered dahlias are!!

Happy New Year, everyone! I know I'm a little late, but I was sick, and I tend to start it off after my birthday anyway...nobody wants to swear off sugar a few days before your birthday every year of your adult life!! 😅

If you are new here, thank you! Here is a little bit about me and what we do...

I'm Dana, a farmer florist. I am entering my seventh season growing flowers and designing for weddings and events. I'm a former high school social studies teacher, nature lover, slow coffee on the deck girl, beach sunset watcher, and dog lady. April - October, you can find me almost exclusively outside harvesting flowers, watering flowers, pulling weeds, and pulling more weeds. When I'm not doing that, I'm designing for lots and lots of beautiful weddings!

I work EXTREMELY hard during those busy months and cherish the downtime in January and February. I'm currently planning weddings with clients, buying seeds and plugs, and figuring out garden layouts, all from the comfort of my couch!

My work is often times a crazy dichotomy of filthy dirty hands and GORGEOUS bouquets. I love both parts of this job and believe that when clients get locally grown flowers for their wedding, they are getting the highest quality, most unique, and most intentionally designed flowers possible.

2025 couples...This.Is.Your.Year!!🥂

Black Dog Meadows Flower Farm is a seasonal flower farm is located in Hudson, MI. We believe in growing healthy and beautiful flowers that help sustain our butterfly and bee populations. Our designs are inspired by nature and all its unfettered gifts. We grow, we forage, and we are inspired daily by the beauty that is cultivated in our flower fields and out in our wild meadows.

During the growing season, we offer a number of services: design work for weddings, selling wholesale to local florists and event designers, Growers Choice Floral Buckets for your DIY wedding and events in colors and styles of your choice, deliver gorgeous arrangements to your friends and loved ones, and can do floral bouquets, arrangements, or centerpieces for your dinner party, baby shower, wedding shower, or 4th of July bash.

During the off season and holiday season, we offer wreath or centerpiece workshops, fresh Christmas greens arrangements, and wedding or event floristy. Inquire at any time about scheduling a workshop or class for a holiday party, work function, or ladies day.

The 2020 growing season will be upon us soon and it is going to be a good one! We will be growing so much more variety, volume, and color choices. I cannot wait to work with you, flower for you, and grow...both outside and in.
