2024- what a massive year of growth, change, hardship and joy. Last year, we built what was supposed to be a woodworking shop (it still will be, eventually) but as Valerie’s hands were very full with the baby and not with woodworking tools, we thought “why don’t we put some feelers out to a few friends about hosting some events in this building in the meantime” and Bright Haven took on a life of it’s own very quickly from there.We held our very first official event on January 1st, 2024. Word started spreading, people started showing up and here we are after one year - 116 events and over 600 sign ups later. In response, we made a website, we built a social media presence, we grew an email subscriber list. We created a google listing and received some 5 star reviews. We. Made. A. Business. Words can’t accurately convey how unbelievably proud we are of what we’ve built, of the community that has begun to flourish here, the connections we’ve seen form, the growth and change we have undergone, and the strength and courage we have found to live a life we previously could only dream of. It is an honor to steward this land and hold space for others in this way. We worked so hard this year- and all while learning to navigate parenthood with our sweet baby. We continually worked on the event space- sewing a curtain, painting the walls, bringing in more gravel to streamline parking, stocking the building with event essentials, running wifi, installing heat and AC and even adding an extra door. We planted 8 fruit trees, 2 pecan trees, built planter boxes, tilled a garden, created arbors, grew vegetables, tore down old fencing and seeded pastures. We had electricity run into our back pasture, had a new well drilled and began mapping for our RV hook ups. We went under contract on a tiny home tree house build. We worked with several arborist. We are so grateful for all of the wonderful souls that showed up yesterday to help around the farm. We learned so much and we hope our volunteers did too! We didn't get a picture of everyone or all of the projects but it was truly amazing to see how much we were able to accomplish together. Quick little snapshot from our networking night tonight. We had a nice turn out and a great discussion on marketing, social media, chat gpt and also how none of that matters as much as being authentically YOU in how you show in the world and in your business. At the end of the day, who you are and who you connect is what really brings you into alignment, opens those opportunities and grows your reach. We all concluded that, especially within the spiritual space, word of mouth and in person, heart centered connection is just as, if not more important, than the next viral reel or perfect branding. We had a great time last night at our Beat the Blues drum circle in partnership with Sacred Roots Spiritual Community This circle was a little different than our last one, we just let the beat ebb and flow with no facilitation. It was fun to communicate and connect without words and just listen to the energy! We're a little behind on posting, but nonetheless, we had a wonderful time hosting the farm's first drum circle on New Years Day with DeeAnn Macomson! I believe that the energy and action you set forth on New Years Day sends a ripple effect throughout the whole year, so I am looking forward to many more drum circles in the future. When the weather is warmer, we'll finish our fire circle in the woods so we can drum and dance around the flames!
