Evensong as a special part of the worship life of the Church has a long history dating back to the first Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Church, printed in 1549. However, its roots can be traced back even further to the Canonical Hours of Vespers and Compline of the Roman Catholic Church, which were combined to create

Evensong in the Book of Common Prayer. Evensong has found a home in the United Methodist Church simply because John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, was an Anglican before he was a Methodist. Evensong is a contemplative worship experience and throughout its history, in all of its various forms, music has been an integral component. Today, churches of many faith traditions focus on the musical aspect of Evensong to sponsor concerts as a part of their ministry. It has often been said that music expresses what words cannot, and it is the hope of the performers, and of the Trinity family, that the music of Evensong will deepen your faith journey with the Lord.
