Maria + James’ wedding was an unforgettable day at Burritt on the Mountain! We battled hurricane winds and rain all day, but the clouds parted for the briefest of moments for a sweet, at times, humorous, and beautifully dramatic ceremony. Waiting until the last possible second to make a weather call and soaking up as much water off the chairs as we could while it was drizzling was all worth it to try to make their dream wedding come true. Maria referred to her wedding day as her “Pride & Prejudice moment” and I think I’m going to start calling it that when it rains on wedding day because who doesn’t love that scene? Congratulations to The Copelands—May your marriage be full of good luck!!!

These cooler temps got us excited for all of our upcoming fall weddings!!! 🍂

We are a little more than a year from Blake + Shelby’s Fall 2025 wedding at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens! We are about halfway through the planning process which shows you can never start planning too early.

Excited to start entering the design phase and bring another beautiful wedding vision to life! Bring on all the warm color palettes (and constant flow of pumpkin spice lattes).

Got to celebrate my childhood best friend in Oregon on Saturday! The whole weekend embodied Tim and Caroline and their love of hospitality and for each other. There were so many personal touches and Caroline was not afraid to do things differently like choosing to offer a family-style dinner at the reception. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a small part of her big day, catch up with old friends, and spend time with my husband who doubled as my assistant. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. HOLST!!! 🏕️

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of working with a talented team of wedding professionals to host the most beautiful styled shoot at The Venue at Oak Place.

This styled shoot was special to me in so many ways… Not only was I surrounded by friendships I am making in this industry, but the women in these photographs are some of my closest girlfriends and their husbands—most with babies and one along the way! It was a joy to watch them be pampered and feel pretty outside of the day-to-day of motherhood!

I’m so thankful for Lexi for asking me to be a part of this styled shoot and trusting me with her vision, the other photographers who joined us, and the incredibly talented team that made it all possible! I’m blessed to know each of you and to be able to work with you in this industry. It warmed my heart to know that this was a chance for us all to put normal life on the back burner for a little while and to do what we all love. 🤍

As I was thinking about the design for this styled shoot, I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go… This was going to be the first time I put myself out there as a designer and I wanted it to reflect who I am as a person. So why choose a Spanish design?

The first time I experienced Spanish culture was on a mission trip to Costa Rica when I was in high school. The first thing I noticed was that everything was full of LIFE—The lush rainforest teeming with waterfalls and wildlife. The fresh, flavorful cuisine. The busy streets (We happened to be there during the FIFA World Cup). And the second thing I noticed was that everything was full of LOVE. The people there were so joyful despite some of their circumstances that it was infectious. The hospitality was unmatched—and I’m from the South! We spent a week learning from each other, caring for each other, and sharing the love of Jesus with each other, and it changed me and how I see the world…

I wanted this styled shoot to be a display of both LIFE and LOVE. I wanted it to feel authentic. I wanted you to be able to see the passion and hard work we all poured in to it. I’m so thankful for the talented team that helped bring this design to life! Y’all are truly the best of the best!!! We hope y’all enjoy as we continue to share more with you!

I think it’s about time to re-introduce myself!

My name is Audrey Kirkpatrick, the Founder and Lead Planner of Millie James Weddings + Events. I am a Certified Wedding Planner and Designer. I’m also a mama to a 3-year-old little boy, Tucker, and 1-year-old little girl, Millie. My husband, Reed, and I celebrated 5 years of marriage this year!!! When I’m not planning weddings, you can find me chasing toddlers, working outside in the garden with my chickens, or baking something out of one of my favorite cookbooks.

I say it all the time, but my job is a dream come true. 🤍 I truly feel that who God created me to be was made specifically for this industry. My goal as your wedding planner is to always help make what is supposed to be a joyful season of engagement… JOYFUL!
