Come to the 30th General Sam Houston Folk Festival in Huntsville in mid-May. This year’s three-day event offers a fun variety of historical and entertainment activities. The Sam Houston Memorial Museum’s shaded fifteen-acre grounds are transformed into a bustling Texas frontier settlement where you can watch historical reenactments and demonstrators, listen to live music, sip some homemade root beer, share a bag of kettle corn, shop for crafts or simply stroll the homestead where Sam and Margaret Houston lived and the place their children played. Festival admission includes the May 13th-14th: 18th Annual Texas State Knife & Tomahawk Championship held on the 15-acre Sam Houston Memorial Museum grounds. The General Sam Houston Folk Festival Main Stage was "hopping" with the Sahawe Indian Dancers. As you can see the place was packed. Later on they got "children of all ages" into the act and everyone was having a big time. The festival has one day to go and the festivities begin at Noon on Sunday.
